To the Sea The glistening moonlight illuminated the black waters as I looked towards the West, towards where you are. My wrinkly hands touched the soft grass of Middle-Earth, taking in the earth that I had planted all these years. There were memories of my dear children, the good brown earth of the Shire, the joyous mayoral banquets… but nothing could be the same without my Rose. Dear Rosie… how I miss you so. But you had always held the other part of my heart. The sea-yearning had taken hold too strongly. And I knew that my fate lay in following your footsteps.
