Till the Bitter End

As I looked back one last time upon the Last Homely Home, Elrond’s words echoed in my thoughts--trouble back in the Shire requiring either Pippin or me to return. But Pippin following me had always been the plan. Then again, why place Pip in needless peril?

Frodo needed me, but Pippin did too. My worried glance fell upon Pippin as his determined green eyes met mine, imploring that he would go, tied in a sack, in any way, he would be following. Let’s follow then, together, for Frodo needed us both to be with him, until the bitter end.
