The Best News

Bilbo had just finished his afternoon tea, pondering about how or with whom he was to celebrate his seventy-eighth birthday when Hobbiton’s messenger, Milos Goodbody knocked at his door, all out of breath to tell him that Primula, his first cousin on his mother’s side, had just had a son, Frodo, several hours ago.

“Oh what news is this to get on one’s birthday!” cried Bilbo in joy. “How is Primula, how is the baby?”

“They say all is well but bid you to go visit them for---“

“Of course! Of course! I can’t think of a better birthday gift that Frodo had given them and me on this day,” sighed Bilbo with happiness.

After many years of not doing anything for his birthday since he had his unexpected "there and back again" adventure, he thought with a grin,

There is a reason to celebrate again.
