When my hunger won’t abate

Rumbles loud until I eat

Something that will satisfy

Hobbit heart and Hobbit eye

Flat or round I’ll eat them all

Fried or baked or served with stew

Chopped or sliced or whole will do

When Cook will not let me munch

On a few before my lunch

One or two before my meal

Cooked with parsley, served on toast

Mushrooms are what I love most

Towards open pantry door

Or fleeing from farmer’s land

Bulging sack of goods in hand
