Nov 15:  Lamentable Tidings II

Unto the Thain of the Shire from the hand of Elessar:

And so it was that I found him, when we came to bear Merry to the Rath Dinen.  I thought at first he was sleeping, his head upon his arm, their hands clasped on the pall.

In death, as in life, Pippin was always close on Merry's heels.

When I lifted him up, I found the enclosed letter in his other hand.

I have laid them together in the House of Kings, clothed not only in their regalia as lords of Rohan and Gondor, but also with my love.
