Nice parallel with Frodo’s waking up to find Gandalf sitting at his bedside in the novel and the movie! I like that. Wonder if Bilbo has visited with him yet? And Gandalf was going to carry Frodo to the chamber pot anyway??? Surely not! =) Please, Shirebound, would you write a gap-filler/missing scene story if I asked you to? I would so love it if you'd write one in which Sam wakes up to find Gandalf is sitting there, and perhaps one another with Bilbo! Please? Pretty, pretty please, with sugar on top? Author Reply: You're such a sweetheart, Kathy! I haven't written anything in several years, and can't promise anything, but please email me at shirebound1@ gmail dot com and give me more details about what you're longing for. Are you referring to a gap filler for *this* story, or a stand-alone scene that could happen at any time or place in the Quest? The more details the better. ♥

*Sigh* I have to go to bed now -- I was trying to finish, but it's not going to happen. But, I just wanted to say I am really enjoying this story! I like your take on Legolas and Gimli here -- is a nice approach to think they might have started to get to know each other and get along before the Fellowship headed out. As usual, Aragorn is fantastic :-), and I do like Sam to get his time in the sun, as it were -- I think he's my favorite hobbit, though they do all have their charms... Thanks for writing! Author Reply: Thank you so much! I love true "fellowship" stories, even if at this time they hadn't quite formed their bonded group yet. It was nice to give Sam so much attention for a change... usually he's the caregiver, or quiet helper of the group. :)

It is good to see Frodo recovering. Author Reply: That's always my favorite part of the story. :)

I didn't realize I was behind until I got the latest story update and came over to read it! I was thrilled to find I have several new-to-me chapters to read. Loved Pippin and Bilbo allowing Gimli to tell the story of the events in the cave. And Bilbo saying he'd write to Golin was excellent. I also liked that Gimli is considering his worth on the quest to come and that he wanted someone to let Legolas' Father know of his part in this recent rescue. Author Reply: Thank you. I've learned so much about Dwarves through writing these stories!

I'm woefully behind in my reading (okay, just two chapters, but with this excellent story, that's woeful!). I enjoyed the quiet aspects of this chapter, and the humor. Gandalf is so funny... I loved his huffing "Nonsense" when Frodo accused him of planning to carry him all along. It's those touches that make your stories such fun. And Sam's "Elves"! How appropriate that his ears would perk up at that, even asleep. Very enjoyable chapter to get caught back up on! Author Reply: Thank you so much. It's the small moments, especially the hobbity ones, that make me happiest. :) I miss this story, and am so glad that I should finally have a chance to return to writing this week!

I love that last part of the chapter with the riddles and the Frodo and Gandalf dialogue! So cute that Sam spoke in his sleep and said "Elves". Liked the part about Gimli being in awe to be in the presence of the legendary Burglar too =) Very charming chapter. Loved it! =) Author Reply: Thank you very much! What a joy to at last get to this lighter, more 'hobbity' section of the story.

So much to love here! "delicate Elves" --snort! ...and hungover elves into the bargain! Do tell, did any of them perch in trees and sing silly songs? "second breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day" (one of six, I believe?) Gimli's storytelling, his awe at being in the presence of the Burglar, his modesty (and Bilbo's insistence on writing home about it all) Pippin's blush, your description of his person, the way he talked was so... Pippish. Well done! (and did Merry really sleep? How many is a few hours? ...as little as 2, I'm told) Gandalf taught hobbits how to riddle! How I'd love to have been a fly on the wall at the time. And Sam, solving riddles in his sleep! (Or perhaps simply having perfect timing, what with dreaming aloud.) Lovely, glad to have been able to steal a few moments to catch up on this one. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm so happy when folks share with me the lines or parts they like best.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this but here I am at last, loving the little comments about Frodo and Sam waking separately wondering about the other and especially the whole bit with Gandalf and Frodo - "I have my orders" and being held and the riddles and Frodo assuring his friend there was nothing to feel guilty about that Frodo wasn't safe and just the whole thing! Looking forward to more! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thanks, Antane. I do love it when Gandalf can jest with his hobbits. He's usually far too serious! :)

Awwww, that was so cute the way Sam answerered the riddle in his sleep! :) A wonderful bedtime story for me! Good night and thanks for the update! Author Reply: Rivendell is a very healing place for our hobbits. It's nice to think of Sam having such lovely dreams. Thank you!

I am glad that Gimli is going to be checking up on Legolas - and very glad to hear that Sam has woken up. Loved all the exhausted and hung over Elves. :D Author Reply: Thank you. This was a fun chapter. :)
