| Hi, Fiondil. Good chapter. I wonder if we find out about the mysterious blizzard, but then again, sometimes we never *do* get the answer esp. if it prevented something from happening. I like that touch of realism. The Spirits are always watching and are more often silent than not. I really loved the way the Elves handled the tree. As a kid I always worried about the Karma of such a greivious injury to such a beautiful being. We've been doing live trees in pots for years now. Thanks for such a good story! That's enough outta me! Diana Author Reply: Hi Diana. Growing up there was no such thing as doing live trees in a pot, but I always felt sorry for the trees that were cut down, especially the ones that didn't get picked. It seemed somewhat cruel and I couldn't imagine the Elves doing anything like cutting down a tree and this was the solution I came up with. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it. | |

| I'm glad Alex and Derek got back in time and without problems with their visitors. These feelings urging them to leave earlier are a bit unsettling, but maybe it's actually just the weather. All these Elves wondering about more sinister reasons are making me nervous, though. Is it naive to hope they're wrong? Wow, that was certainly an unexpected way to get their tree out of the frozen ground without having to fell it! I like the idea that the tree gets replanted after Christmas. Nice story about Celeborn in Aman. Yeah, the kings are good with that sort of thing. Author Reply: I don't think it's naive to hope that the Elves are wrong about their suspicions, Kitty. The implications if they are right are rater frightening, so it's easy to want to think otherwise. At any rate, I thought the way Glorfindel chose their Christmas Tree rather cool and very elvish. It's a pity we can't do it as well. I'm glad you like the story about Celeborn in Aman and the kings are very good at putting certain people in their places without seeming to do so. | I like the way the elves got their Christmas tree. It sounds so elvish. Everyone seems to calm down to get ready for the celebration. I'm relieved that Alex and Derek with their parents are back in Wiseman. It sounded ominous that they both had a bad feeling about staying in Fairbanks. I hope Christmas still goes by in peace before the next nasty surprise. Speaking on surprises, I hope Finrod and Glorfindel have a talk before the mortals arrive. It would be damaging for their image and, I think very embarrassing, if the explosion happens in front of the mortals. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. | Robert Frost certainly has a number of lovely poems, and the two you mentioned are the ones I like best by that particular poet. But I'm also certain that Finrod would like many of the poems by the Norwegian poet Hans Børli. I happen to own a book containing a selection of his poems where the poems are presented side by side in Norwegian and in English. (The book title is _We Own the Forests_ in case you want to look for it on Amazon) I do hope Finrod takes a few minutes to tell Glorfindel about his plans to reveal the existence of the Elves to Alex' mother and Derek's father before he actually does it. As we all well know, Glorfindel Does Not Like Surprises!! Except when he is the one that does the surprising. :D The Valinorean Elves certainly got a surprise out there in the forest! And that was a very Elvish way of getting a Christmas tree! Author Reply: Hi Sunny. The title of the book alone is interesting and I will have to see if I can find it. Thanks. I promise Finrod will discuss his plans with Glorfindel and we will see what Glorfindel's reaction to them are. I'm glad you thought the getting of the Christmas Tree a very Elvish way of doing so. | Love the way they did the tree. I was curious how they would do the tree with their love of live plants. I use to try to get a live tree that I plant after Christmas. Some of these trees are humongous now, and some did not live. But I wouldn't have changed it for the world. :) Author Reply: Hi Laer. Growing up we had real trees bought from a tree lot. I always felt sorry for them, especially the ones that no one wanted. The idea of using live trees that you would plant later im the spring was something that didn't become popular until long after I was grown up and by then I was not in a position to buy a live tree and I don't buy trees or even have an artificial tree as there's no room for one where I live anyway. But I like to think the Elves would have latched on to the idea of using a live tree all by themselves. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's much appreciated. | |

| Glorfindel's Christmas Tree Emporium, Est. 2012 - We Bring The Forest To You! (Well, just in case the whole apocalypse thing doesn't work out.) Love the talk from Finrod about what's been going on since Glorfindel left. I am really itching to hear more about "modern" times in the 10th dimension if or when you ever drop little bits into the story. You've got my curiosity stirred up! Talk about a sociological gold mine. Insular populations with zero growth, zero death and few to no injuries. How did the poor things not go insane over, what, 70,000 years I think you were hinting? This raises so many questions. Why didn't they develop tech like humans did? What have they been doing all this time? Have there been power struggles, new lands raised, epic staring contests, what? And this no babies since the last ice age thing: are the Elves just depressed en masse? Scared? Bored? Also, is half of Valinor related to one another by marriage by this point? I can see how that Gift from Eru might start looking pretty good after 70,000 years trapped on an island with several generations of in-laws. *evil grin* Just thinking out loud. One of the things I love the most about your writing is you always leave me pondering. I like pondering. I like your take on things, speaking as both a Christian and Tolkien fan. I'm not sure what's been happening to Aman in all these ages, but I can imagine that cut off as they are from Middle-earth and no one Sailing, the society could very well stagnate. If you're immortal and nothing bad happens to you, what's the point. I think even the Noldor would stop trying new things after a while and they were pretty much the scientists of the Elves. Besides, we know from our own history that cultures that are isolated tend to stagnate after a while simply because there's no commerce or exchange of ideas with other cultures. I don't see why the same wouldn't be true for Elves. At any rate, you're not the only person who's said that my writing makes them think and I appreciate you telling me. | I would love to have been there to see the discomposure of those who found that Celeborn was so honored by Ingwe! That would have been worth observing! And love the ceremony surrounding the choosing of the Christmas Tree and its agreement to being so chosen. That is cool! Author Reply: I'm sure it was well worth observing, Larner. | That sounds like an excellent way to have a Christmas tree. I've been using an artificial one for years, but would have a live one if it could happen like this. Bring on the elves! Author Reply: I couldn't imagine any of the Elves just going to a tree lot and buying a Christmas tree and thought Glorfindel's solution the best. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Tari. | I see Finrod is finally heeding Healers orders sand taking things easy, it must be hard for him having to be idle for a time, as Heir to the Throne and Feanturnalde(and I know I spelt that wrong!) he must have had many duties to absorb his time. Oh, I do like the way Glorfindel 'aquires', his tree what a neat way to do it and saving the place for it so it can go back to whence it came, it will have lots of things to tell the other trees!(Another Bunny? as if you need more!) I see Finrod has still failed to mention to Glorfindel what he is planning to do with regards to Alex and Dereks parents, I am still waiting for the explosion, I think I have room under the desk to Duck and Cover! Monday Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Well, being something of a healer himself, he knows that he needs to take care, but, like many of us, he finds it hard to be idle. I'll leave it to your imagination as to what the tree tells its buddies once the Elves return it to its proper place. LOL! As for the explosion... we'll have to see. Finrod will tell Glorfindel in the next chapter where we will also learn who Finrod's secret santa and some of the secret santas of others, and where we'll finally meet Anne Meriwether. | Hi Fiondil: I am glad that every one is safe and that Christmas Day is tomorrow. I am enjoying this story very much. After this story, do you think that you can do one on Celeborn, after he arrives in Aman.It sounds very interesting, as to what Finrod's family think of Celeborn. In fact even what Celeborn's family think of him. Something to think about for the future LOL Galathil Author Reply: Hi galathil.
