what a treat to come back here and find a handful of new stories to read! Turgon as Ithilden's thorn-on-the side is priceless, but also very poignant. It's great to read the interactions of these five we got to know so well... I'm happy to see more of these! Author Reply: Oh my goodness, Perelleth! How great to hear from you. How are you doing? I'm glad you liked this. I feel swamped by the original stuff I'm writing right now, but one of these days, I'll visit Thranduil's boys again.

It’s fun to see the 3 brothers together! Their interactions always make me smile. I actually laughed out loud at this exchange: "All three of you would have to promise to do what I tell you. Eilian, too," he added. "I do what you tell me?" Eilian asked. "Or they do what I tell them?" "You know what I meant," Ithilden said. "I'm not sure I do," Eilian said. And I enjoyed this one: "I notice you saw no need to mention this worry to Adar." Eilian grinned. "Afraid he wouldn't be able to shake the picture of one of these three trapped by a spider?" "Which one?" Ithilden asked. Seeing the brothers in action is always a treat. And I especially enjoy it when they are protective of Legolas. I have to go read Visitors asap to get the back-story on squirt Ithilden! lol :) Author Reply: One of the pleasures of writing about young Legolas is that I can get all three brothers together. I think after their mother died, Legolas was what anchored the rest of the family together. He needed them and because he was so young, he had no compunction about demanding that they all gather around and love him. Without him, Eilian wouldn't have come home so much, Ithilden would have withdrawn even more into himself, and Thranduil would have grown colder. The family sort of centered itself around him. As a writer, when he became a warrior, I was dismayed because I knew it was going to be harder to get them together. This one was fun to write. I hope you like Visitors too. It's from the point of view of a total outsider. daw

Poor Legolas. Turgon ruins a lot of his plans, but generally provides him with endless hours of entertainment, though in this case Turgon wasn't the sole source of trouble. hahaha I loved reading this one. I love the Legolas stories where he's this age. He thinks he's nearly an adult, but he has so far to go! Author Reply: If you were a kid, how could you resist hanging out with Turgon? As you say, he's an endless source of entertainment. And in Legolas's case, I think he also senses Turgon's vulnerability, though he's not conscious of doing it. Turgon arouses his instinct to protect. Glad you liked it, Gwyn. daw

"I'm not sure I do," Eilian said. ^ that exchange had my giggling out loud. And I obviously missed more than I thought- I thought there was just the one little story I missed from you (which had me so excited) but now I find that I have this one and an update on a question of duty? This is like christmas. I don't remember Rodda- so obviously I got to reread that story! And human Ithilden! I'm so excited and surprised! I was always hoping we would see this baby that Ithilden delivered again! I love that Legolas calls him Squirt Ithilden. Thank you for writing! Author Reply: Thank you for this review, sofiab, and also for the two on ff.net. It was nice to be back with the House of Oropher again. Actually, just yesterday I was sort of poking at an idea for another fanfic, but I don't know. I seem to have a limited amount of creative energy. I hope Squirt Ithilden had a day he'll be able to tell his grandchildren about. At least this time he's aware of what's going on when he meets the Brothers Thranduilion! daw

What a wonderful surprise to find a new story from Daw! After watching most of The Lord of the Rings marathon this weekend, I had really been in the mood to read about Legolas. That brought me to your page to visit with old friends by rereading your delightful stories. I enjoyed your story and found your writing to be as exciting and insightful as ever. Thanks for sharing! Author Reply: I have those LOTR marathons in my own house sometimes! They're fun. I miss those days of all the LOTR writers posting all the time. Thank you especially for saying that thing about insight. It's never what I start with, mostly because I don't have it! But I find if I try to write truthfully, sometimes, if I'm lucky, insight comes.

I have the house to myself for two weeks. First up was to watch all six Hobbit/Lord of the Rings dvds. Next up was a(nother) re-reading of my favorite Hobbit/LotR stories. I was SO happy to see something new from you! And irt the comment at the end of the extra chapter in 'question', I know I'm still here, ready to read, and I'm sure I'm not the only one! I have always loved your work, finding your elves very real, and thoroughly enjoying their lives as written by you. I hope you find some time to continue your Legolas stories. Author Reply: You are on a LOTR binge! I do that sometimes too, when my husband travels. I also really like the commentaries on the extended editions. I learned a lot about story telling from PJ and his writers. I'm glad you enjoyed this. The characters feel "real" to me too, I guess because I've worked with them for so long. I'm contemplating the birth of Ithilden's little girl as a story. We'll see.

I love this. It is so good to hear from the brothers again. Poor Legolas. He is stuck between childhood and adulthood depending on what the context is. On the other hand he should be aware that parents always treat you as a child no matter the age ;-). The way time runs for mortals vs. elves is shown in stark contrast in this piece and made me think more about what constitutes being an "adult". Mere years is not the answer. I think Annael's dad got it right when he said you become an adult when you take on responsibility. Author Reply: he should be aware that parents always treat you as a child no matter the age So my son tells me--in an exasperated voice! It's almost impossible for me to fathom how elven ages would affect your perception of things. If you're Legolas, does Ithilden seem more like a sibling or a parent? Or how do you react to seeing Rodda be an obvious adult while you're still a kid? I guess you must get used to it. I think it was Bodkin who said maybe it depended on the role you took on. That seemed reasonable to me. Thanks for the review, obsidianj.

I'm glad to see you writing in this world again and hope it's not just temporary for the birthday party. Yours are among the fics I find myself reading and re-reading. I've never quite managed to write my own. Author Reply: Writing in this world is so much fun. When I come back to it, I can't understand why I don't it more often. So I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. daw

Thank you Daw, Lovely to read about your world of young Legolas and his brothers after such a long time. You have such a deft touch with these characters. Hope you are going to write some more stories about them Author Reply: It has been a long time. I did a little missing scene for Question of Duty not long ago, and then this. I think I need to write some more fanfic! I just need to fit it in with the other writing. Thanks for telling me you enjoyed it, Noor.
