| three as was naught but Hobbits Sam includes Smeagol here. I like this very much! And I agree that Sam might have wanted to spare Merry the pain of remembering the Witchking of Angmar. Author Reply: I'm certain that by the time this was written Sam had indeed accepted that this was Sméagol's proper origin, and that in the end he was grateful as Frodo had been that Sméagol's actions allowed the quest to be completed, as Frodo himself could not finish it at that time. And Sam was now accepted as full equals with Frodo's other friends, not just as the gardener/servant fellow who tags along, if you understand me. He knows how just thinking of the Witch-king can affect Merry. Thanks so very much, Andrea! | |

| Nasty Nazgul! I wonder what Sam would say to the Nazgul peddling Sulfurous Exfoliants if they ever dared come near the Shire? *g* Probably didn't get much business there, I'm thinking! And then there's the ill-fated tale of Zimrathor and Vardilmë...*shakes head at self and my own silly prompts and writings as compared to Larner's brilliance* Oh, and I do like the fact that Sam wrote this chapter! Brilliant! Author Reply: Oh, but just remembering the tale of the Nazgul going into such a business venture after Sauron fell still makes me laugh! And of course Sam would write this one. | I am sure that Sam wrote this one to spare Merry the pain of memory but it must have been just as hard for him. I love the different voice that comes through in the style of writing I claim my prize! 2 for the price of 1 in this chapter..."No notions of their own was left to them". And Now in the last line. I hope that people don't think I am nit-picking. I stand in awed admiration before your work every time, especially when you are publishing one every day.. Do tell me to stop if you find it annoying Larner. Nine nasty Nazgul riding out to war, (repeat) And if one Nasty Nazgul should meet his destiny... There'd be eight Nasty Nazgul riding out to war. (To the tune of 10 green bottles) Author Reply: Now I need to hear this song sung so I'll know its tune. Here in the States we start with A hundred bottles of beer on the wall, a hundred bottles of beer! We take one down and pass it around, now there's ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall! and so on until we're all sick and hung over just from the song itself! Heh! | |
