| Paladin's grief and feeling disturbed about his son is so palpable. How bewildering it must be for him! And I just adored that domestic scene with Frodo sleeping and Legolas and Pippin singing. Very nice! :-) Author Reply: It *is* very bewildering to him indeed--it's far beyond his comprehension. But he's made up his mind to understand as much as he can. I thought a scene of family coziness was in order, and I'd had this image in my mind of Frodo, with his head in his aunt's lap, and Legolas and Pippin singing to him that had been looking for a home--it seemed to fit right in here, LOL! | |

| A fascinating puzzle Paladin has set for his beloved wife--but indeed Eglantine will be up to it. Now to learn how the Bankses end up having to go under guard to Gondore. | Oy...I'm behind! I am so glad that Esmeralda and Saradoc are finding the "yearn incident" funny. At first, for some reason, I was thinking in modern terms--like if Merry and Pippin lived in *our* time, they'd be the infamous TP pair! TP-ing trees, privys, and yes--dining halls! I love the way Paladin has a lot of confidence in Eglantine's ability to do all the tasking he's given her. Hobbit Mistresses didn't always have it easy! :-P Thanks for a great chapter! Pippinfan Author Reply: Actually, that's kind of what I had in mind: I was thinking--what would be the Middle-earth equivalent of "rolling" a yard, and I came up with this, LOL! And I think that Esme and Sara *had* to have good senses of humor to be able to raise Merry and put up with Pippin without killing them all those years.*grin* Paladin does have a good deal of confidence in his Eglantine. I think of the Thain's Lady as kind of the Shire version of the president's wife. She had to be sharp and on top of things. Glad you enjoyed it! | |

| Well, of course Rosie and Marigold have to be there for Sam's birthday. And I liked Eglantine's reaction to Paladin telling her not to worry about money. That would definetly cause a double take! She might just pass out when she finds out why. Author Reply: Well, Frodo knows how Sam's going to feel, having to leave Rosie in Hobbiton *again* 8-)No one can say Frodo is not thoughtful of his friends. And then there are the wedding plans to work on. Yes, Tina is going to be quite surprised about that, isn't she? | |

| Now that is a party that I wouldn't want to be in charge of! Eglantine has her work cut out for her on this one. I hope whe has lots of help. Author Reply: Paladin has every confidence in her. She has probably played hostess to even larger gatherings of Tooks and other relatives, but throwing Men, a Dwarf and a Elf at her is going to give her pause for thought. Of course she will have lots of help, there are dozens of Tooks around for her to call on. | |
