Hi Thundera Tiger I have just come across your story. I love the interaction

between two great warriors and leaders. That Legolas has heard the gulls and comes to Dol Amroth to see

Imrahil for help. Of to read more of your stories.

Imagine my shock when I found there were some of your stories I hadn't read! Well, this was one of them and what a pleasant surprise. Your descriptions of the emotions here made them palpable. and the idea that Legolas came to Imrahil is a fascinating twist in the story. It was a great insight into sea-longing as well.

Author Reply: Hello, Monica!

I just sent you an email, so hopefully you've gotten it by now. Thanks for the review, but I'm little worried if you're going to go reading ALL of my stories. Some of them are a tad on the long side. Not that I'm looking to discourage you! Of course...I think you've read most of the long ones. Oh well. Anyway, thanks so much for the review and I'm glad you like the idea of Imrahil and Legolas getting together over the boat-building issue. There've been a few suggestions that Cirdan helped him out or that he knew how to build one already, but Cirdan was on the western coast if he was still in Middle-earth, and Imrahil was much closer. Plus, I didn't think there was much call for serious ship building in Mirkwood. They had the forest rivers, but nothing that would require a keel or sails. That's my opinion, anyway. Thanks again!

The first person writing with Imrahil was done very good. I admire anyone that writes good first person (considering I stink at it). There was a lot of psychological points in this story, and once again that is something I admire. Truly, you are a writing genius!

Oh, Thundera, this is a lovely little tale, a beautiful explanation for how Legolas learned to build that gray ship we hear about at the end of the Appendices. I always thought it was odd that he would know how to do this, as he was a wood elf and did not really live near the sea. Ship building is not a simple craft. There is much science and engineering that goes into doing it right, so obviously his knowledge was not just innate.

I like too how you tease your readers with this playful exchange of words that is part of their conversation. They both speak with eloquence, but they are never direct. It is a clever counterpoint to your Legolas/Gimli conversations.

But the most poignant part of this story is the pain you show in Legolas' eyes. Again and again you remind us that his choice to stay is not easy for him, and though Imrahil can on some levels relate, they are distant in their shared blood, and this lord truly is of a different breed entirely. They share an affinity of love and respect for the sea, but too they are quite alien in how they see it. It is an interesting comparison you have given us.

Dear Thundera Tiger,

do you know that an addle brained Eomer is a threat to Gondor? Rohan needs a dependable king. Gimli doesn't even get a glimpse of Moria and on top of it he's dying. And Legolas, poor Legolas, is rotting in a cave AND in the desert simultanously, nowhere a tree in sight, and it's a wood elf we're talking about. Do you really think that's nice?! So, DO something about it. Middle earth needs you!

The first-person narration was quite a fresh way of looking at things. It provides a wonderful glimpse inside Imrahil's head. He's slow, steady, and graceful... deep and calm. It's very easy to forget he's a Man, and yet, there are slight subtleties that remind us he is.
Though Gimli and Aragorn are closer to the Elf, Imrahil seems to understand his nature to a greater degree. He sees more of Legolas the Elf than Legolas the Friend.
I always assumed Cirdan taught Legolas the art of ship-building. You've opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. There's nothing more enjoyable than being able to read a piece and feel enlightened afterwards. :)

Imrahil seems alone, and yet strangely content. A swan... yes, it suits him well.

Ok thats it!

Tell me where I can find books written by you....and if not tell me when you will find someone to publish your work..... I'm serious! I don't make comment often and never lightly. Your work moves me and leaves me wanting more...what else should a good story do.

I'm guessing there is more from you out here, somewhere in the ether. I will continue to look. The sites I have already found move me ever onwards looking for your work. Is there somewhere that I might find the definitive works of Thundera Tiger? (maybe one day!)

Please continue, you certainly have a gift.

That was beautiful. I hurt for Legolas, he seems to be in such pain! It was really interesting reading first person from Imrahil.
I wonder how many "trips to Rohan" Gimli will let Legolas take?

By the way, on the subject of your other stories(all of which I have read) I thought up a great new way for the bad guys to torture their victims. It's a failproof way to make them go insane. Here you go: find a wonderful author and have her tell the victims awesome stories. Draw them into the plot, so that they're seeing the characters in their dreams and worrying about their fates while in the grocery store. And then...stop. Stop right at the most agonizing point she can think of. See? How could they not go insane?

Needless to say, I love your stories. I'll pray for your writers block to be cured. God bless.

Omg, that was absolutely beautiful. What a beautiful perspective, the sea is like fate. But I only have one question: around what time does this story take place? I can guess that it is after the War of the Ring, but how long after? I had not thought Imrahil suffered so. Let me take this opportunity (ahem) to remind you that you have other stories that need finishing? Deperate readers ready to....ready to....well ready to do something desperate. You left us at a terrible cliffhanger in "The Land of Light and Shadows." I mean Legolas and Gimli are dying in this cave where the Khuruntu are headed? And what about "Fear no Darkness." The rescuers are so close!!! Please update! But this was an amazing fic. Keep writing and I'll keep reading and reviewing (annoying)!
