The linked worked perfectly, Daw! Keep them coming! I want to read absolutely everything you've written about the Wood-Elves! I was actually hoping there would be some explanation of Eilian and Alfirin's previous knowledge of one another but I didn't want to ask because I thought it might be in some of the coming stories... I'm more than half finished them now and not looking forward to seeing the end I can tell you! I do believe I'm hooked!! ;-)

Author Reply: The stories are all on Stories of Arda, so you'll find them eventually. Also, once in a while, friends wrote birthday gift stories for me using my characters. I'll point you to them when you're done. I'd do it now, but one of my favorites is by Bodkin and she tells what happens to everyone after the Ring War so you don't want to know yet.

Oh, Daw! What a wonderful chapter!! I laughed at Legolas' relief to escape from questions about floral arrangements - all too true isn't it that we women do that to men on such occasions!?... You captured perfectly all the stress and flutter of such an occasion. The grandness required for the Crown Prince's joining was abundantly evident in your description of the preparations. I really enjoyed your scene taking Ithilden and Eilian off by themselves to share a quiet confidence concerning Alfirin's past knowledge of the more 'dashing' of the brothers. I also think you did a splendid job of demonstrating the depth of attraction and love Ithilden and Alfirin felt for one another. It was so nicely placed in contrast to the budding interest between Legolas and Miriwen. And then there was Thranduil. I couldn't help feeling a little twinge of sadness that he was bereft of his love at a moment he and Lorellin must naturally have wanted to see together. It was a tremendously well written chapter, Daw, and I definitely felt the full breadth of emotion that always accompanies these events in 'real life'. [My heart still beats just a little faster when I read about Ithilden though and that is not going to change anytime soon despite his newly married state! Alfirin is just going to have to learn to handle it! ;-) ]

PS - I don't think I could have killed Turgon off if I'd written about him as an elfling either. For better or worse, he was a good friend to Legolas and a being who grew on the soft spot in your heart as you got to know him better!

Author Reply: Oh, you're so good to pick up all the different variations on male-female relations here. Tolkien wrote some about elves' attitudes toward sex in his essays, and he made them quite puritanical. In some ways though, that's fun because every little thing becomes so exciting then. I worked from the theory that sexual attraction and love developed together in elves. Otherwise it was hard to work some of this out.

I have a few stories set before Legolas's birth, so I don't think they're on my time line. This one is about Eilian flirting with Alfirin when they were younger:

Not that you should feel obligated or anything, Eru forbid. But I thought you might be interested.

What a great portrayal of wedding. I have been looking for such an example to gain some insight on how the wedding would be preformed. Your story was pointed out to me. This is a very solemn occation and you have done very well with it. While the circumstances I am writing are different, I think this is very apt for a Silvan ceremony. The writing is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.

Author Reply: Thank you, Rous. I was playing around trying to see what a wedding would look like if it were consistent with how I interpret LACE. And then, I wanted all of Legolas's family to be thinking about the women in their lives. I think the most fun was writing about Legolas's first kiss. :-)

Wonderful story! I loved it! Great great great! I love how Leggy gets his first kiss! Good job!

Author Reply: Thank you, Dayna. Writing about that kiss was a lot of fun, I have to admit. His family was so dismayed to see him getting so grown up!

Aw that was cute. Ithilden deserves to be happy. Poor Legolas though. That wasn't very nice of Eilian. Keep writing.

Author Reply: LOL. Legolas needed to be pulled out of the woods and back to the party. Experimenting is all well and good, but too much time alone with the girl would not be a good idea. Ask Eilian. He knows!

Oooh! so the wedding has finally arrived. well well well... ;)

Author Reply: Sofia--

I am having a good time this morning watching you work your way through some of my stories. I loved the opportunity to give all of the Thranduil's family some romantic moments in this one.
