Thain  by Lindelea 2 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 17 on 11/9/2004
OK, I've remembered the riddle. (I hate riddles. Wouldn't have done very well if confronted by Gollum - although I could have managed the 'what have I got in my pocket' level of question.)

Would I have preferred to live in one of the quiet centuries between attacks by Dark Lord and Witch Kings? Yes, please. This type of activity is best related over hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Poor Thulion. Even poorer Berethor, who is far too young for this level of responsibility.

I don't like to think who is trampling poor Bucca. But at least I know he became Thain in 1979, so any torment will be survived.

Author Reply: Quiet centuries. What a concept. However, hot chocolate and marshmallows are a comfort.

LOL to your philosophical comment. Poor Bucca indeed! If I can finish the chapter satisfactorily it'll be posted in the next day or so.

Thanks!

Oh, what a sad chapter. At least we know whom of the King's heirs survived.

Now Bucca's got problems of his own. Stuck under some wandering man is not a good thing. I just hope it's not one of Angmar's people. Personally, I don't think it is, but I've been wrong many times before.

Thanks for a quick update. Looking forward to what happens to Pippin next.

Author Reply: We don't quite know whom of the King's heirs survived. His grandson, certainly, but since he's being called "my liege" the fates of the King's sons (other than Berenarth) are still up in the air.

Don't sell yourself short; you have good instincts. The man stumbling over Bucca will be revealed in the next chapter to be posted.
