| These little stories are just adorable. You've done a great job of capturing the love and the sweentess of the bond between Merry and Pippin, without making them too saccharine or simple. Please keep writing more of them. I just read the 'bug' one too -- utterly wonderful. Thanks for these. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I am very pleased that they aren't seeming too saccharine because I don't think they were always sweet with one another. After all, even friends argue, especially family. | Like Merry could get rid of Pippin even if he wanted to, LOL. What a sweet and touching moment between the cousins. They're friends for many more reasons than just their age, though I can see Pippin being a bit concerned about such a milestone. Author Reply: I seem to think of Pippin as one of those folks who will come up with questions and concerns late at night just when you're ready for some rest. LOL Thanks so much for reading! | |

| *chuckle* This was a sweet one. Merry not nearly so impatient as he was pretending to sound, and poor Pip, suffering from "thinking too much" (what a phrase! *grin*)about the age difference. I've always found myself fascinated by it myself. Of course, it's not as large a gap as it seems to us, with hobbits' different rate of maturity, but it is still a significant gap. Yet the three of them never seem to pay a lot of attention to it. They just love one another, and get on with the business of being friends! Author Reply: I think that is one of my favorite things about hobbits. They don't give age too much thought at all when choosing their companions. I always think of Bilbo and how he spent most of his time with his youngest cousins because he enjoyed their company. I did think that Pippin might worry a little bit, though needlessly. | |

| Awwww! Loved that! I often wondered about Pippin's insecurity of Merry coming of age before him, and you dealt with it so perfectly. Pippin is still sweet with qualities of both a young adult and the unsurety of his childhood. Lovely little moment! :-) Pippinfan Author Reply: AWWWWWW, thanks. | Pippin worrying so much about his friendship with MErry beofre there is even a reason for it! "These things always happen when you start thinking too much.", I guess Merry often gets to be the one to catch Pippin in his thinking too much moods! | Age has so much to do with relationships as you grow up - it's pretty amazing that the whole Frodo / Merry / Pippin love worked as well as it did. It certainly wouldn't if they had all gone to school. I love little Pippin worrying about how being officially adult will change Merry, but if he has coped with his little cousin throughout his childhood, he is not likely to bother about the difference between 25 and 33. After a time it is life experience that makes the difference - and these two are heading for the most bonding kind of life experience that they could possibly endure. Author Reply: I love the fact that hobbits really don't seem too concerned with age. I liked that Bilbo had made friends of his youngest cousins because they understood him best and I was pleased that the same was true with Frodo and Merry and Pippin. I did think that as the youngest among them, Pippin might be just a bit worried once he was the only one not of age. Thanks for reading and reviewing! | |
