Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 18 Review(s)
GoldenReviewed Chapter: 53 on 6/4/2007
*L* Hilarious!

Was there ever a continuation of this story or the plot bunny of Dreamflower written?

Author Reply: Glad you liked it. You know, I had forgotten all about that plot bunny of Dreamflower's. Sad to say I never wrote that but I may get around to it yet. You never know. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Pip-logic: the older the brew, the better. The dustier the bottle, the older. So find the dustiest bottle in the cellar and you'll find the best drink. With that kind of thinking, trouble could not be far. That's priceless! :)

Merry needs to be more careful with his promises. If Pippin wants something, he will not only find but create loopholes. Endless story ideas can explode from one thoughtless Merry-promise, no? :)

Drunken Pippish is much harder to understand than normal Pippish, but I got most of it. Heehee. If only they had known it was a Frodo creation. They would have burned the big green bottle of "Baggins Brew."

Where do come up with these plot ideas? I love hobbits! Keep the stories coming.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for the lovely review. Seems Merry didn't think things through clearly in this case, did he? LOL

As to where the ideas come from, no clue and just when I think that they've all been written, another one turns up. Thank you for reading and I have a feeling that there will be more.

You have such a way with words and timing.

“Smooth going down, isn’t it?” Pippin managed after his coughing had died away.

*g*

(altho I'm also wincing for them, silly hobbits)

Author Reply: They do wind up with more than they can handle in this one. LOL Baggins Brew may now be tasty but it was strong! Thanks for stopping by!

“Pippin, these are not the sort of glasses that a Hobbit drinks alcohol from. These are milk glasses from my mum’s kitchen.”

lol! So True.
THis whole fic had me smiling and laughing non-stop. WOw Baggins Brew certainly gets Merry and PIppin drunk in no time.
I guess this calls for a bit more for next time, doesn't it, GW? ;) ;) ;)
Your characterization of drunk hobbits is *such* a pleasure to read. ANd i love how Frodo is the one who bottled it!! hahahahaha
Wine--it's good... had some tonight--now when are you visiting the city again, my dear Took? ;)
THank you so much for this fic! i really really enjoyed it!!! =) :D

Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it my dear Baggins! Drunk Hobbits are fun, aren't they? I would love to come back to NY. I hope that it is soon but right now work is getting in the way of travel. You know how work is. When I return I promise that you and I will talk Hobbits and raise a glass or two. LOL Miss you!

As if sober!Pippin's pippish isn't bad enough, now we get to hear what drunk!Pippin pippish sounds like! Very funny. That's one bottle of whatever and monster hangover they'll never forget! Merry will have to be more specific about his 'rules' in the future.

Author Reply: Yes, I am afraid that Merry's rule just didn't hold up well when all was said and done. LOL It does seem that Frodo's Baggins Brew holds it's strength over the years though. When Merry's head finally quits aching he will have to make new rules and I think one of them should be , Never drink anything unless you know exactly what it is! Thanks for reviewing!

Baggins Brew, eh? Oh my, that hobbit does has stupid ideas!

And of course Pippin would find the bottle, no matter how well Saradoc hid it.

Great story!

Author Reply: I think Frodo had in mind making something that tasted like the Old Winyards but had no idea what he was doing. LOL
And everything you do comes back to haunt you so when Pippin was looking for something to drink there was Frodo's old disaster! It had to happen. Thanks for reading!

They do deserve the headaches. Mind you, so does Amethyst - who has the potential to become a very wealthy bootlegger.

I expect Saradoc would have poured out Frodo's home-brew - only he was afraid of the effect it would have had on the fish in the Brandywine.

I think Pippin and Merry might both learn something from this experience. Although quite what, I'm not sure!

Author Reply: Amethyst seems to have got off not only with Pippin's money but with no headache at all. But when Merry and Pippin's parents find out about The Big Green Bottle her involvement just might slip out. *maybe*

LOL You could be right about Saradoc. Maybe he was protecting the fish! I can't imagine that Baggins Brew would be good for fish.

I think Merry and Pippin will learn that it is important to know what you're drinking and exactly where it comes from before you drink it! They might also learn a thing or two about Frodo's past adventures if he decides to tell them who distilled their spirits.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! Cheers!

Ah, a fitting ending for this saga. And Frodo is to blame, is he? Lovely.

Author Reply: Poor Frodo! Seems his wicked past has turned up to haunt him but maybe Saradoc should have disposed of his 'gift' of Baggins Brew a long time ago. hehehe Or maybe someone needs to keep a closer watch on the cellar key and Miss Brandybuck! I do think there is plenty of blame to go around this time. Merry may be the most innocent party in all of this and that is very unusual!

Oh goodness. *laughs and laughs and laughs* This was utterly delighted, and I needed it, and I would never, ever, ever drink Baggins Brew (if I was even able to, of course). Bottle number six-hundred-seventy-nine! And Pippin thinking he'd found the oldest vintage in the Shire! And Pippin and Merry making me laugh all over myself, when they were drunk (and I don't envy them the hangovers they'll have).

Thank you!

Author Reply: What can I say? I love drunk Hobbits and your birthday was the perfect excuse to break out the Baggins Brew and have a toast! Hope you had a wonderful day and I am glad this gave you some laughs!

ROTFL!!!! Oh, my gosh--I was champing at the bit all day waiting to read this tale--and it was well worth the wait. Oh, gosh--Pippin thinking he got the oldest bottle in the lot and ends up with Baggins' Brew and manipulates Merry into giving him some! What a hangover they're going to have later on! Especially that lightweight Pippin. ;-) This was too funny! Thanks for the wonderful laugh!

Author Reply: Hey, glad you enjoyed it! I am enjoying your latest so much so it's nice to be able to return a bit of the favor. The hangovers are going to be wicked but folks really shouldn't drink 'Baggins Brew' even if it has aged. Thanks for reading.
