Now I am waiting breathlessly for the next chapter.

Author Reply: Next chapter is up, finally. Will try to get another up before the weekend. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note.

This is trhe biggest cliff hanger in some time. The little princess and Hilly in the water, Pippin near death from lack of air, Sam banged up and bruised and still no rescue for anyone. I hope someone comes out of this in one piece! I do hope Sam doesn't feel too badly about his fall and Pip's medicine. Even if they save everyone I know Sam will be too hard on himself.

(Elladan didn’t wait for Arwen’s answer. ‘I’ll go to the waterfalls,’ he said. ‘I doubt Estel would hear any summons if he’s near them.’ He mounted his horse and was gone.)

Our hero, I hope is to be Elladan as he is, at least, on the way.

Author Reply: We're still hanging on the cliff, as you now know, but hope for resolution soon. Thanks!

Hilly is so very brave! the way he dove in after the princess was very sweet. I hope he is alright and able to get out of the water! Oh my! How frightening for him to see her swept away!

It must be terrible for Arwen to try and stay in place but be so worried about her daughter! Then not being able to be with them but for new to come swiftly!

Good thing Denethor was able to meet up with Elrohir and Elladan! They will be of use in a search but also its seems their ears are of service!

Now Pippin has collapsed and Sam is most likely hurt! He took quite a tumble! I hope he isn't hurt too bad! Merry and Diamond are there and Bergil is racing along the river trying to find those who fell in. Sounds like they are going to need more swimmers!

Oh dear I'm all a flutter! So many things happening at once! So many to worry about, I hope there is more soon!

Author Reply: While researching I found out that it's instinctive to go in after someone drowning in a river, and yet the strongest swimmer (would-be rescuer) might well drown in the attempted rescue. There are specific methods for river rescue, imagine that! And textbooks and training videos and courses!

Thanks for your observations. I have added another chapter (no resolution, yet) and hope to add another before the weekend.

One problem just keeps getting compounded. I don't even want to think about what could happen next.

This was a great chapter. It's one of those that's fun to read despite the trauma to the characters, or is that because of it?:)

Thanks.

Author Reply: Hmmm, despite or because of? One of those nagging questions. Angst. That's the answer.

Thanks.

I was forced to go and check - using the net - only to find that not all the references (of which there are many) meant quite what I did. Here are some:-

Like piling Pelion on Ossa, "according to excess unto excess." See on "1Co 12:31".

Pelion on Ossa (a Greek phrase meaning ‘a bad situation getting ever worse’)

To heap Pelion on Ossa, to compound one’s difficulties; to add to one’s problems. (In their war against the Olympians, two of the Giants, Otus and Ephialtes, attempted to reach the heights of heavens by stacking one mountain – Pelion – upon another – Ossa. Before they could complete the feat, they were slain by Apollo.

I just like the sound of it. (Like a 'secret de polichinelle' which is an open secret of the kind that everyone knows so nobody ever mentions - and therefore outsiders never discover.)

Piling Pelion on Ossa!!!

Is anybody currently left uninjured?

What a dramatic chapter. I shall have to put my ER hat on and get to mopping up blood.

Author Reply: Okay, I'll bite. Where would I find out more about Pelion and Ossa?

Thanks for the quick review, very heartening. Cannot believe this chapter split itself into so many pieces...
