Yule Fictions Past and Present  by Grey Wonderer 6 Review(s)

Snow is nice to look at, but I wouldn’t want to live in it! *brrr* Glad the lads are enjoying it though. Clever Frodo, to let the others play about until they’re cold and exhausted. Pippin shows his own special brand of cleverness when he shows Frodo what stars to look at.

Author Reply: See I love snow! We used to get tons of it but now we hardly ever get any at all. Global warming at work! Glad you enjoyed the story and good to see you back on posting again! Any new stories in the works? (Looks hopeful.)

No stars that night, but laughter and beauty anyway, in spite of the weather.

Bless young cousins who climb trees!

Author Reply: I only wish we'd get a big snow storm here. I do love snow. This story started with the image in my head of Pippin falling out of the tree and landing at Merry and Frodo's feet. That's all I had until I started typing. I love when that happens. Thanks for reading!

GW, that was absolutely wonderful! So much fun, and so true. You really capture the cousins beautifully!

Author Reply: Thank you! This one was just a bit of winter fun. I could see Pippin leaping out of the tree and surprising them but I wasn't certain what was going to happen next until I started writing! Thank you for the lovely review!

Well, I don't know where harrowcat lives, but the weather here in Germany is exactly the same. Although, I would call it a storm. It nearly cost me my umbrella ;-)

Now, Frodo's battle plan was excellent!

“I have no principles,” Merry said pushing past Frodo and hurrying into the smial.

Shivering, Pippin looked at Frodo for a moment and then he said, “I have principles but I’ll trade them for tea and crumpets and maybe a hot bath?”

LOL!!! That's absolutely Merry and Pippin! Just great!

And I loved how Pippin described the snowflakes as little stars!

Author Reply: It's raining here in WV too! Looks like we all have rain now. I think Frodo had to be very clever when dealing with Merry and Pippin. Frodo is always clever though. So glad you enjoyed it and I hope your weather changes for the better!

“I wish it were a clear night and that the stars were out,” Frodo sighed. “I wish you were in bed asleep, Peregrin Took.”

“There are stars!” Pippin objected. “They’re all over the place!” He spun in a circle with both arms out as he said this.

“I don’t see any stars,” Merry frowned looking up at the sky.

“Not those kind,” Pippin said. “Snow stars! All of the flakes look like little stars falling down.

This is adorable! I can never get enough of your cousin-y adventures, banter, and love.

Author Reply: Ah, thank you! I posted it to Hobbit Holidays a minute ago. It's not complete Yule-related but I thought it would qualify. Thanks for reviewing this! I'm glad you liked it.

Snow in most of it's forms is just lovely. And every Season is beautiful but i draw the line at the wind and sheeting rain that we have today when i have a rare Sunday afternoon off! Oh well more time to adore GW's lovely writing instead!

Author Reply: I am getting rain right now. I suspect that this will be a very nasty night. I'm glad not to be going out in it. I do love snow and we don't get it as often as we once did. (Global Warming!) Thanks for reading and reviewing!
