Not only do I have a hobbit after my own heart, but now a Man. A fellow dreamer and reader. Love it and him.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I think Frodo and Faramir had a lot in common, actually.

Faramir is one of my favourite characters, and I'm very picky about stories with him. I really love this! You have captured his love of lore, but also his dedication to duty, where he does not begrudge the lack of opportunity to pursue his interests, but is fully prepared and willing to do what is needed to protect his people.

Author Reply: Well, then, I'm doubly blessed! (I have trouble reading about Faramir; my brain seems fixated on hobbits. But when I have to write him I go back and steep myself in what JRRT wrote about him, though it wasn't much. I'd like to have seen more of him, which I suppose is a testimonial to the author's skill in bringing the character to life.

Faramir could probably do with the comfort of an old friend - it can't have been an easy task he had there in Ithilien.

Author Reply: Not at all an easy task, and yet he handled it with grace and balance, I think. Lovely character, would have liked to have seen more of him in the original, even though he served JRRT's purpose in the glimpses we had of him, and more was not strictly necessary to further the plot.

Lovely. Sometimes I think Faramir and Frodo would have had so much in common, don't you?

Author Reply: You know, I never thought of that before, but it rings true.

Am glad I got an odd moment to read this.

Author Reply: Am glad you did, too!

(and that I got an odd moment to write it)

Very nice, and much as I see Faramir! I can *so* identify with your Faramir!

Author Reply: Thanks! Very encouraging to hear.

The stolen moments with a book must be very treasured indeed. Lovely to see a moment of relaxation, at least.

Author Reply: Yes, I seem to be contemplating lovely moments more than angst, lately.

A rare peaceful moment. For our ideal Numenorean to retain the balance and sanity he did he must have sought as many such moments as he could. A lovely image.

Author Reply: Thank you! Though I was thinking of what Faramir might have been doing, not long before encountering Frodo and Sam, this might have been set at any point of his patrolling Ithilien.
