Aww, how sweet! I love kitties--puppies, too!=) I also love how Frodo persuaded Sam to rest beside him in bed when he saw how tired Sam was.

Please, would you post the URL to Mew's story, the prequel to this one? I should like to read it!

Author Reply: Thank you, Kathy! I'm so glad you enjoyed this.

Email me, and I'll send you a copy of Mews's story. I don't believe it's posted anywhere except her Livejournal. shirebound1 (at) gmail.com

Hello Shirebound,

Oh, that was so sweet! Kittens and Hobbits and plenty of food. I could actually go a nice bowl of hot soup, but it's late and I should probably head off to bed soon.

Thank you for these lovely stories. I will read more from the list you sent tomorrow after work.

Goodnight!

Maureen :)

Author Reply: Thank you, and goodnight to you! I hope you dream about your favorite hobbit(s).

One more Sam ficlet you might enjoy is the first chapter of my story "Light Out of Darkness"...

"Now I know we're not dead," he chuckled. "Tuck in, Sam. The roast potatoes are lovely."

I *loved* that, lol! What a beautiful story to find while cruising the MEFAs. ;-) I really enjoyed this portrayal of Sam and Frodo finding themselves alive and in the keeping of the king. I enjoyed every word...as usual. :-)

Author Reply: Thank you so much! It was such a pleasure writing this with Mews. I'm happy when our hobbits are cared for so devotedly.

What a lovely picture you two have painted here. The last line brought tears to my eyes.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Harrowcat. We had a lovely time working on this together. Gentle hobbit-comfort is such a joy to write!

What an adorable image of the kittens, charming first Frodo then the King !

Author Reply: Thank you, Linda. Kittens are such a sweet distraction for Frodo, and even for a king. :)

It's only 38 degrees here tonight but I'm all warm and fuzzy now! This was adorable! Thank you for the hobbits and kittens! Two of my favorite things in one story! The roast potatoes were nice too.

Author Reply: Glad we could help warm you up with a nice helping of hobbits and kittens and taters!

There's nothing like a kitten (or a cat) for making a person relax. Even the medical profession now admits that stroking a pet lowers the blood pressure.
Furry huddle - I love that. I have watched so many furry huddles in my time.
I read a lovely description once - 'furry, singing hot water bottles that never grow cold'!

I love how tender and caring Aragorn is to his hobbits (and kittens) and the love which Frodo and Sam have for each other. I think we'd all love to be in the caring of this King. *sigh*

Author Reply: Thank you, BB. Mews and I really try to give Frodo the tender care he deserves. Pets, Sam, blankets, food, peace and quiet, respect, love, and a healer-king. *happy sigh*

I'm trying to convince my landlord to let us have pets. I hope to have a "furry huddle" myself one of these days!

A trifle movie-verse, I see, with them waking in the city rather than the glade in Ithilien, but dear for all that. They must have been somewhat confused. And am SO glad someone provided them with kittens for their comfort, and that Frodo insisted Sam rest by them. They must have comforted one another so after their separation from the others; now to accept they can still do so. And I'm so glad Frodo is as aware of Sam's distress as Sam is of Frodo!

Author Reply: I'm so glad Frodo is as aware of Sam's distress as Sam is of Frodo

That was one of Mews's wonderful ideas. Thank you, Larner. So happy you enjoyed this gentle 'comfort' tail... err, tale. :)

OMG! this is beautiful! Being a 'cat person' I love the kittens in this story. A soft purr and warm little live body is all a person needs to feel better. The addition of the kittens is perfect. :)

Author Reply: We have to thank Mews for the original idea; she's definitely a 'cat person' as well as a 'Frodo person'! Thank you, Neilia; we really enjoyed writing this. :)

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 15 on 1/4/2008
Lovely ending - Frodo and Sam wrapped up in each other and that kiss to both of them from Aragorn. I think Sam would be concerned about his 'place' when others could see, but they both know his place is right where Frodo - and God - placed him, right beside his treasure. Nice touch that Frodo is attuned to Sam's feelings like Sam is to Frodo's.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: The one thing Sam knows for sure is that his place is with Frodo. It's lovely to ensure that they both get comfort and healing.
