When Winter Fell  by Lindelea 3 Review(s)

Quite the roundabout route to Tuckborough, I must say. And the Hobbits must have been in great delight with so much good food to enjoy along the way!

Author Reply: Definitely the scenic route! And our long car trips can resemble that journey somewhat, at least in the amount of snacks the tweens pack for their comfort... but then you can never quite fill up a tween. I'd love to be so organized as Bella and pack hampers of real food. (Though they wouldn't fit in our little car, not with all the baggage one must take, to a tournament or on a camping trip, and when the pup arrives, that'll be one more body and bag of supplies to contend with!)

Bilbo liked to look into the windows of the buildings they passed, almost like illustrations from a book, little slices of life.

His true nature is revealed here, as a reader, writer, poet, and observer of life. I like this little detail very much.

And now I'm *quite* hungry for my own breakfast!

Author Reply: I hadn't thought of that! Lovely insight, thanks.

I know, coffee is not enough of a breakfast.

I love this little chapter of cozy family travel! Such a nice road trip so far; of course, Bilbo's an "only" so there'd be no sibling squabbles over sitting by the window!

Author Reply: LOL! I hadn't even thought of the squabbles to sit by the window! How funny!

Thanks!
