To See Justice Done  by Lindelea 9 Review(s)

Oh, yay! This was a very well described gap-filler. :D And as I really should have said in the previous review: Sam is definitely Full-wise as Gandalf said. I laughed outright when you wrote his humor was back to pre-Party standards, lol! Oh, joy! :D

Phew, I'm glad Aragorn hung out the matter for a while - until he managed to get the inspiration. And discovered that actually most people wanted him to find a solution that was not execution! (Note to Aragorn: You can be too careful to work within tradition.)

he seemed to hear Gandalf's voice in his ear. But pity stayed his hand.

Good on you, Gandalf. Good bit of haunting voice at the right moment.

I'm glad Targon tried to break the news gently - good news being just as shocking as bad. Gilwyn, Bergil and Fargil are going to take a while to accept the new state of affairs. But I think the party tonight is going to be amazing.

I like Sam's conclusion - and I suspect the lesson saw its way through to the scouring of the Shire.

How does one go about reviewing such a perfectly satisfying story? I was just champing at the bit to read it yesterday when I knew it was up but was out all day with 40 kids and then a friend called me with a crisis. I got home at 2am and then was restrained enough not to turn the computer on. (A true miracle that!)

Am late for work now so all I can say is Brilliant, great, lovely wonderful.... *leaves still listing superlatives!*

It was nice to re-read this all at one go! I am once more impressed by your grasp of this particular theme, and also how you keep everything straight, both with canon, and with your own universe.

Lovely! Again, the very Tolkien touch of following one group, then the other. And the memory of Gandalf's voice, telling the tale of Bilbo and Gollum, far away in the dark of Moria. And the wondrous thing accomplished by THAT act of mercy. Two things I forgot to mention that I especially liked in the previous chapter; " Sam began to think that Gandalf's sense of humor had returned to its pre-birthday party level". and, "Sam stood there feeling as useless as a pair of boots in Bag-End".Great, both of them.Perhaps we now have a glimpse of what might have helped influence Aragorn's choice. And one last very memorable phrase, "You, speechless? This is an historic occasion!" Wonderful writing!

Aha! The inspiration finally came to him, and JUST RIGHTLY, of course. Loved the way Pippin and the others learned how the justice was done.

Wonderfully done! You painted that so realistically, I could feel Aragorn's hesitation and the moment he realized the meaning of Sam's words, and the elation of everyone at his ruling. I wonder what Beregond will say or do once he learns that it was by Sam's final plea that Aragorn was able to find a solution to spare his life.
