The healing has begun. I understand the return of the healer, but would still want to know why she did as she did.

It's always a thrill for me to see updates to this story. Great work on both plotlines in this chapter. I thought it was interesting to see Denethor's reaction to Boromir's intended. In one sense I am sympathetic to the girl, it's a lot to expect of her to think that she'd care at all about Boromir before she's ever seen him but all the same, it is natural for Denethor to want someone worthwhile for his son and she isn't making the best impression by babbling about nonsense. I hope Imrahil and Nerdanel make headway with her.

I was touched when Boromir finally saw Faramir again particularly since it reminded me of the terrifying scene with the FaramirOrc (how nightmarish!) - I was happy that Boromir finally had the support and attencion he needed. And it was so like Faramir to let the woman go in order to save the political situation and help Eomer - Faramir really seems to have the ability to set asside thoughts of vengeance while caring deeply for his harmed loved ones at the same time. I hope Denethor, who doesn't always seem to see how wise his son's gentleness is, won't be TOO upset...

Author Reply: When the Muse first suggested an intended for Boromir, I got all happy and excited and felt she was going to be just perfect for him. She surprised me! She is definitely court-born, but not bred, unfortunately. Nerdanel will have to 'undue' most of what she learned.

As for Boromir - I just love these brothers and am so glad I'm finally able to write about them without taking away from Denethor's story - for now the family is definitely in a 'fight to the finish' and need each other desperately.

Faramir is awesome. I finally figured out something that had bothered me and prohibited me from writing him... and now we are the best of friends.

Denethor is another tale - he knows what would be the 'best case scenario' but he, and Gondor, do not have the time for such dealings. He must be hard against the forces that assail his beloved land and his family. Drat!
