Dreamflower's Mathoms II  by Dreamflower 12 Review(s)

Too bad none of Bilbo's dwarves were in town at the time--they would have gotten such a kick out of it! =)

*giggles* I have no idea how many times this happened with one of my younger siblings or cousins. Little Pippin is just soooo cuuuute!

Author Reply: I love writing Pippin when he's so young!

It's fascinating what will frighten children--sometimes it makes no sense at all.

Awwwww! Pippin is just tooooo cuuute here, lol! Makes *me* want to tickle his ears. :-P You paint such a sweet picture of the three cousins!

Author Reply: I was afraid it might be "too cute" in a bad way, but everyone seemed to like it!

I love the three of them together, I truly do!

This is adorable, and Pippin's fear of the mask is utterly believable. One of my daughters was afraid of shoes for a while and none of them liked anything on their heads.

Author Reply: Children *will* take unaccountable notions into their heads sometimes!

Awwww! Poor Pippin! LOL! This was cute. I just knew that mask was going to scare him. I remember one year when my grandmother managed to acquire a hideous "old hag" mask. On Halloween she wrapped a sheet all around herself and put the mask on. My little brother, then five or six, ran screaming and was found in the back room, sobbing into a pillow. Poor thing. He got over it when he found he could scare *others* with the mask and sheet. :)

Good idea to paint Pip's face instead of making him wear the mask. More sensible, too, as you don't have to hold onto paint and it won't get lost. :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Poor little kid! But yeah, little kids can be scared so easily by things like that! LOL!

You're right--it was more sensible, wasn't it?

I reviewed this the other day, then my computer burped on me and I lost the lot!

This was adorable - little Pip is so cute, with his threats to eat the Dwarves.
Pity the wonderful mask frightened him so but clever Frodo to come up with an alternative solution. One day this little sweetie will be the wielder of Troll's Bane and Guard of the Citadel!

Author Reply: 'S okay! I was out of town, and though I could access a computer at the motel, it wasn't very conducive to replying.

I'm so glad you enjoyed cute little Pip! And Frodo is nothing if not clever! But you are right--he's going to grow up into a very brave hobbit!

This is just so delightfully sweet and cute, Dreamflower!

He was delighted. “Ooh! Shiny!” He touched the “jewels” on the weskit. Then he hopped up and down and looked behind him at his marvelous appendage. “I have a ta-yuh! Look at my ta-yuh, Mer!” He giggled as only a three year old could.

“Look, Fro!” he crowed, “I’s Smaug! I’s a dwagon!”

Your wonderful writing just makes me want to cuddle wee Pippin right up! LOL!

Leave it to Frodo to save the day! It's so nice to see him being able to enjoy the part of childhood he missed out through his young cousins. Due to his grief over his parents, I don't think Frodo would have enjoyed the Fall Festival as much until Merry came along.

I wonder what Bilbo would think of wee Pippin's costume?

Isn't it amazing how little ones can be so enthusiastic about a craft project such as yours and then get all scared when it's done?

Author Reply: *grin* wee!Pippin is just very cuddle-able, isn't he?

I think you are probably right. But he would have enjoyed helping Merry and Pippin with it very much.

He'd probably be insufferably smug about it--his Adventure being the inspiration and all!

It was kind of funny! As long as it was on the table, he was *fine* with it, but as soon as it was held up to a face, he got so upset!

The invention of face-painting!

I'm not surprised Pippin doesn't like the mask - there is something about masks that is quite scary.

Author Reply: Yep. Necessity being the mother and all that...

Masks *can* be very scary! I'd not thought much on it though, until that cute little fellow gave me the bunny...

Yes--very, very appropriate! Lovely!

So glad this little dragon won the prize as well.

Author Reply: Thanks!

I couldn't let Frodo break his winning streak, now could I? LOL! And let's face it--who would deny that adorable little dragon?

“I’s Smaug! I eat the Dwarveses all up! I eat up all the ponies! Roarrrrrr!”

"Dwarveses"? LOL!!! English is funny :)

Little Pippin being scared of a mask, and Frodo coming up with an even better and completely new solution! That's wonderful!

Sometimes real life is the best inspiration!

Thank you for this story, Dreamflower!

Author Reply: *giggle* Well, *baby-talk* is funny, anyway, LOL! I do try not to go overboard with baby-talk--too much of it in a fic annoys me, but since he is such a very young faunt in this, I thought it was excusable.

Sometimes it is! I felt so sorry for the poor little kid--he was sooo cute!
