A Quadrabble for Sam  by Agape4Gondor 6 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 1 on 6/9/2006
What a moment for Sam to find himself back in the middle of all the horrors! He is so caring though - even coming back to himself, he will not distress Arwen by letting her know what she has said.

And Faramir knows something is amiss - but is tactful enough to remain quiet. Fingers crossed that Aragorn manages to sort this out. I wouldn't want Sam to be deprived of his taters once he gets home!

Author Reply: Dear Bodkin....

Thanks so much - but dearest Sam is so unassuming that he wouldn't even think that he had distressed Arwen. Too little. Just a Hobbit. She must be upset about something else. Strider only came 'cause Arwen called him - but it couldn't have been for him!

I just love Sam....

Oh - now you've made me think about taters and the Shire - poor Sam!!! Though I'm sure he'll take it in his usual pragmatic way. Swallow and dig.

Poor ol' Sam. This has a nice "slice of life" feel to it -- just another day in the utterly abnormal life of a hobbit with PTSD. It's sweet and sad and horrifying all at the same time.

Author Reply: Thanks, FP, for the kind remarks. This started out with the thought that it would be a light 'gardening' moment and quickly went downhill. As life does sometimes!

Many thanks, again, for your comments!

I think it very realistic that Sam might have distressing flashbacks.I loved the way how the greatest in the land rushed to care for Sam.

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda, for the comments.

I think the Fellowship, by this time, was terribly attached to each other. They could not bear another loss. And King or no, Aragorn, and all of M-E are beholding to this 'Ringbearer!'

Well put-together and believable. Gentle Sam, not wanting to distress Arwen. Faramir, remembering Boromir, but sensitive enough not to correct Sam's statement. Aragorn, understanding even though he doesn't understand, agreeing with Sam.

I do hope that healing will come.

And practical Sam, already figuring out a workaround.

Thanks!

Author Reply: Thanks, Lindelea, for looking at each one of the characters and their response. And I enjoy the word 'workaround' - it fit Sam, doesn't it!!!

Ouch. That would have hit hard, wouldn't it. Poor Sam!

I love Faramir and Arwen and Aragorn trying to figure out why...

Author Reply: Thanks - great praise from a Sam fan - I don't usually write about the dear.

A poem challenged me! It was supposed to be a cute little thing - when Sam stepped in, put his foot down, and said - 'Don't toy with me, woman!'

So we get angst... and *blushes* a pretty neat scene, I'm surprised to say.

Thanks again!

Oh my, poor Sam! He has his memories, too, doesn't he? This is a wonderful scene, full of love and tenderness.

Author Reply: Thanks, Shirebound - I so admired your writing! Thanks for enjoying 'my' Sam - though only mine for a moment....
