Somehow I overlooked this one. Delightful! "Shedding their rinds"--LOLOL! Loving the ents' pov.

Author Reply: Am so glad it touches you so. Yes, the Ents would see things differently from us, and I am glad it is so! Thanks so, Armariel.

This was just delightful!I agree both are children of nature.

Author Reply: Oh, indeed. I suspect that in her way Yavanna was mother to both races. Thanks so, Linda!

Hello Larner,

ohmigosh, that is too sweet! Bregolad adopting Merry & Pippin - I want to squeal with the hobbitty goodness of it!

I love this collection of fics. There's something for everyone. Very Forest Gump!! :)

M :o)

Author Reply: Am so glad you enjoyed this one, M. I, too, enjoyed imagining Quickbeam's reaction to the Hobbit's activities and joy in life. Dwim wanted a story that reflected something about adoption, although it didn't have to focus on adoption of a child, so this was what came out. Although I wasn't the only one that found the idea of Hobbits and Ents finding family feeling for one another possible, I learned. Aruthir's half-drabble in the HASA birthday list is delightful.

And I do try to write all kinds of stories. Thanks so!

"They shed their rinds?!"

LOL!

Thanks for a nice nightcap.

Author Reply: Always glad to evoke a giggle, Lindelea! Love to the girls, Zoe, and the hubby! Hope to be able to get away for a few days next month, but am still uncertain what the new bosses' leave schedule is like for us!

Little brothers indeed - how cute! Interesting observations of Quickbeam about the Light in them and all that.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

This is such a sweet tale. I would have commented when I first read this on HA this morning, but I can tell you how much I enjoyed this drabble just as well on this venue. It has your usual fine-tuned crafting and turn of word, along with the never-wavering optimistic viewpoint that shines through all of your work. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.

Adored this one Larner. So Merry and Pippin have found a brother-of-the-heart too have they! *grin* And I loved the comment about shedding their rinds!

Author Reply: I think that the Hobbits found a great deal to admire in Quickbeam. And how is an Ent to interpret a mortal shedding its clothes? I am glad we got the challenge to write about adoptions of sorts from Dwim, actually!

hole-dwellers-who-are-ever-hungry? *snicker* Now that's an apt description of our dear Hobbits!

Oh, I can see how the Hobbits, who are so connected to nature, might feel familiar to an Ent. It's such a difference to most men, for example. Nice touch of Bregolad to want to adopt them. I'm sure he would love Sam as well!

Author Reply: We know that for Ents names are an ongoing description of the thing named, so I thought that for old Skinbark this would be a likely way of speaking of their small visitors. And Sam, I think, would be greatly honored by the Ents! An Entish Hobbit if there ever was one!

Thanks so very much, Kitty--and am glad you found so much to enjoy yesterday!

This is adorable, and makes me smile. It's wonderful to see our young hobbits through the ancient but appreciative eyes and spirit of this Ent.

Author Reply: Dwim wanted a story about adoption, but not necessarily of the adoption of children. Who better to write about, then? Heh!

Thanks so, Shirebound!
