Stirrings of Shadow  by Fiondil 5 Review(s)

Hi Fiondil -

Just wanted to leave you a short shout out on my journey through "Stirrings of Shadow." This chapter was particularly exciting, so much drama and a cliff hanger for an ending. I almost couldn't read the parts describing Aragorn's wound. Thanks to your fine descriptive prose, I vividly imagined the Rohirrim camped around their fires as they fled to Helm's Deep after the ambush.

I'm looking forward to the next chapters.

- Steff

Author Reply: Hi Steff - Thanks for your short shout. *grin* I appreciate you taking the time to tell me how much you are enjoying the story so far. I hope to see more comments from you in the future when the mood strikes you.

This chapter was full of good things, I love young Widfara more with each chapter. His devotion to Aragorn is very touching and Aragorn's lullaby was a lovely touch.I liked the elderly healer and the contrast between the two villages.
I noticed a couple of minor typos you might wish to fix "thigh was thickly bandage." and "delerious" when it should be delirious, unless you spell it differently in the USA,that is.

This is a great story and restores my faith in fanfiction, which takes a few knocks at times.

Author Reply: Thanks for pointing out the typos, Linda. You go blind reading a chapter over and over again and you still miss the obvious.

I'm glad you like Wídfara. He's fast becoming one of my favorite OCs, along with Thandir. He's certainly endeared himself to many. I'm also pleased that my story has restored your faith in fanfiction. I know sometimes I wonder where some writers are coming from and what personal issues they're trying to work out in their writings and making us read them. Fanfiction should be fun, both to write and to read. Angst has its place but for the darker stuff, go see a psychotherapist. *grin*

He may heal more quickly than others as one of the Dunedain, but the Man does push himself, doesn't he? And I, too, wonder why their troop was attacked, and one with a poisoned blade sent against Aragorn? Sounds as if someone would wish to remove what is seen as a serious threat.

Author Reply: Aragorn is definitely a type-A personality, I think. *grin* He certainly refuses to take anything lying down (unless forced to by circumstances). As to why their troop was attacked.... we may discover that in a future chapter... or not.... but certainly Aragorn has much to think on concerning the attack.

I'm glad to see that your Aragorn carries athelas leaves with him. I always felt that JRRT made a mistake in that regard....

Author Reply: Well maybe by that time, he no longer had his medicinal box, which is actually a recent birthday gift from one of the healers from Thranduil's court as described in my story "Tad Edhel a Firion".

Mini-cliffhanger.
Just when they get into a battle with Orcs, you stop. *headdesk*
Until next time--fair writing!

Author Reply: Of course, otherwise there'd be no point in you coming back to read what happens next.
