Stirrings of Shadow  by Fiondil 4 Review(s)

I loved the way the elders wanted to mother the younger ones!
I hope Morwen and the baby will be alright.
Another enjoyable and exciting chapter.

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. We will find out what happens to Morwen and the baby in a upcoming chapter.

These folks have such a hard time, having to wait for something to come together so their plans can proceed. Thandir is very observant and compassionate in leaving them their pride in their abilities. He could very easily do things better and/or faster, but his character shines more in his not doing so. I like the tension you're setting up with Morwen's delivery-in spite of what canon says about her children, there is plenty of room for things to possibly go wrong in the process.
I do enjoy Widfara, so young and eager. Thengel needs more just like him. You've got clandestine down pat, their plans are intricate and detailed without giving anything away as to what will happen next.
Love Thandir changing the subject, let's not bring up anything that may be too embarrasssing!
Aragorn bristles up so well here, he's staking his space and Thandir recognizes this, even though it drives home how quickly he has grown up. Very nice reconciliation, with it's bittersweet flavor. Add another good cliffhanger at the end, all equals good reading!

Author Reply: It is hard waiting for the inevitable. Thengel is good though at keeping his people occupied and Thandir is good at letting the Rohirrim get on with the business, knowing they are more than capable. He is a First Age Elf and remembers well the Edain who fought (and died) beside the Eldar in their war against Morgoth. He has learned to respect them and their abibilties given to them by Eru.

Wídfara is indeed young and eager and therefore quite endearing. We could all use more people like Wídfara in our lives. *lol*

I'm glad you think I have 'clandestine' down... I try not to give too much away without sacrificing the reader's need to know certain information in order to make sense of what is happening in the story.

I'm sure there are many incidents in Thandir's life that he would prefer not have trotted out at inconvenient moments by the 'children' around him. Ancient he may be, but he's an Elf and that means he's unpredictable in his actions.

Aragorn is getting a taste of what he is unconciously foisting on Wídfara with his 'bif brother' attitude and realizing that he likes it no more than his friend. Hopefully, now that the air has been cleared between him and Thandir, their relationship will move on to a deeper more mature level.

And of course there's a cliffhanger... I live for them. *lol* Thanks for reviewing, Cat. I appreciate it.

Great chapter. It seems so hard to 'let go' the ones we love. I do so enjoy the squabbling... and Thandir's love.

Well, I've got my fingers crossed!

Author Reply: Yes, it is indeed hard to 'let go' and when you're an Elf, it's even harder. Glad you liked the chapter, Agape. Thanks for reviewing.

Meldonya!

I haven't been following this story so much, but I got the chapter notice and went to read it, and I just had to laugh at Thandir and "Estel"...*shakes head* I wonder how their plot is going to work out. I hope Aragorn and the others will be all right!! I mean, of course Aragorn/Thorongil isn't going to end up mortally wounded or anything, else there would be no LotR as we know it...*grin* but I hope he stays safe. Otherwise his *snort* naneth will have a fit. *wry look* Not to mention his adar. And I really don't think Lord Namo would appreciate it, considering the events of Playing Chess With Lord Namo and his opening statements there.

Author Reply: Naturally, nothing mortally bad can happen to Aragorn, but his life wasn't all strawberry and cream so he's bound to suffer some injuries and such. We'll see how the plot works out in the next chapter. As for Thandir and 'Estel'... I'm sure they'll work things out eventually... there needs to be a little more give and take on both sides, I think, before that happens though. Thanks for reviewing.
