Let Him Eat Cake  by Grey Wonderer 18 Review(s)
PipMerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 10/10/2007
What a funny story! Only Pippin would find himself in this situation. Not only would he gladly eat all the cake given to him (at first), but he would be too polite to hurt anybody's feelings by refusing the cake once he became too uncomfortable!

That's our Pip!

Author Reply: At first I was going to write this as Pippin just over-doing it because he could but then I decided that this was better since he is all grown up now. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I love it. Hilarious! I especially loved Merry's little side comments. "No, you threw up on my foot and now you must suffer." Wonderful job!

Author Reply: Thanks so much. I am very glad that you enjoyed it. It's something that could probably only happen to Pip!

hilarious as usual!
that was soooo funny! what a clever idea that was... I love your dialogue and your humor is always on the spot funny!
Poor Pippin with the cake.. and you would think he would get sick from drinking nto sick from eating too much cake! lol... so funny he keeps on trying to eat more for the sake of Diamond. And so cool that Merry's with him at the end to be there for him when he gets sick. Poor Pippin!

¡°Merry, tell them I got drunk. Tell them you knocked me out. Tell them I left town,¡± Pippin said. ¡°But don¡¯t tell anyone that I ate too much cake. Please?¡±
LOL! yes, mightly embarassing to be sick from too much cake. lol!

Thanks for a wonderful laugh, GW! ♥

Author Reply: I got the idea from a story that Dreamflower wrote and she allowed me to use the little plot bunny to write this one. I could so see this happening to Pippin! I'm glad it made you laugh. Thank you for stopping by to read. Are you still in China? If so then I hope you are having a great time!

Your hobbits are so very hobbity! Bless Pippin for his heroic effort. Do you think he'll want birthday cake next year, or will he perhaps beg for brambleberry tart? *g*

Author Reply: I think tarts might be a very nice change for Pippin after this. LOL Thank you for stopping by to read and review. I know how very busy you keep.

Aw Pippin! You managed to make me feel ill too and I can eat cake for England! But when a lad is feeling sick then Mum is best, however old you are!

Author Reply: Hey, I knew sooner or later I'd write something that would make people sick! I guess this was it. LOL
Thanks for reading and if you ever do get a chance to eat cake for England, let me know. I wanna see that!

ROTFL!!!!!

Poor Pippin! He's really done it to himself this time!

I absolutely adored the ending with Pippin and Eglantine! *sighs happily*

“You may be all grown up now and be a Knight and live all the way out at Crickhollow away from your family and be in love but now and again a lad needs his mum.”

“I asked Merry to go and get you,” Pippin said softly as he drifted off to sleep

A son is never too old to need his mother.

~Elemmírë~

p.s. So does Saradoc continue his new tradition with his nephew on future birthdays, or does Pippin somehow get out of partaking in it after this latest mishap with cake? LOL!

Author Reply: As the mother of a grown son I do agree that they are NEVER too old to need their mother now and again. I imagine that is true for daughters as well. : )

As to Saradoc and his tradition, well, I am guessing that the memory of this birthday and the cake incident will have faded a bit by then. I can't imagine a Hobbit giving up cake, can you? LOL

Thank you for reading and I'm very glad that you enjoyed it!

Ohh...poor Pip! It really feels like dying ( well like I assume dying might feel, cause I have not died yet) to have something like this.

And Merry is a great friend. But I had to laugh imagine his face, when Pip throws up on his foot. *L* Poor Merry as well.

Also one really never is too old to have ones Mama beside the bed, when one feels terribel. Very sweet scene! :)

P.S. *looks at breakfast* But somehow I am now not hungry anymore.

Author Reply: LOL So sorry that I made you lose your apatite with this one. I may have gone a bit over board with the cake. Thank you so much for reviewing and I hope you did get breakfast at some point in time!

“Mum?”

“Yes, darling?”

“Next year on my birthday I don’t want any cake,” Pippin said.

LOL Oy, oy, oy! Now *that* was priceless! :-) I think by the time Merry met up with the poor birthday lad out in the garden, I was ready to get sick right along with him. I thought this was hilarious and the ending as sweet as the cake. ;-)

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked it. I could just see Pippin winding up doing something different for his coming of age than the usual getting pleasantly drunk bit. Dreamflower's bunny was lots of fun to write and it was finished in time for her birthday. Thank you for the sweet review!

Cute! Oh, poor Pippin, first afraid everyone was going to take his cake before he could really enjoy it and then over-indulging and being hopeful there wouldn't be celebrations when he got older. And who says Frodo wasn't there in some way?

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, Pippin had a rather rough night of it didn't he? I do like to think that Frodo was watching it all from somewhere. That makes me happy. Thank you for reviewing!

Fantastic, as always, dear GW. Funny and sweet all in one. You're so very good at these wonderful stories.

“I was pretending that I didn’t need anyone here,” Pippin said. “I thought it was the adult thing for me to do. Do you mind staying?”

“Of course not,” Eglantine said looking pleased to be asked. “You may be all grown up now and be a Knight and live all the way out at Crickhollow away from your family and be in love but now and again a lad needs his mum.”

“I asked Merry to go and get you,” Pippin said softly as he drifted off to sleep."

That is so very true! Especially when the lad is sick, hehehe.

Mewd - as always!

Author Reply: Thank you! Dreamflower's plot bunny was fun to write and I am very glad that she gave me permission to give this one a go. This is one of those mother and son moments and as the mother of a son I am certain that you know all about this sort of thing. : )

Oh and thank you for the Mewd! Now that I know what it means I am very pleased to have you post it! Thank you! LOL
