Agape's Attempts  by Agape4Gondor 4 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 59 on 3/26/2008
A fascinating look at this complex, haunted Steward through the eyes of the unnamed esquire. Loved it. Too bad he, too, fell, for Pippin might have benefited by meeting him one day.

Author Reply: Yikes! That idea seems to much like a nuzgul, Larner! *shoes the nasty beast away*

Very thankful for your kind comment.

A lovely ficlet - and what an interesting POV! I'd never thought why Denethor didn't already have an esquire.

Author Reply: Sometimes those lines in the book just jump out and bite you. I'd read the book probably 10 times already, but this was the first time I noticed that line. It seems strangely sad, Denethor's little statement that he didn't have an esquire...

Glad you enjoyed it and made you think!

Well written as always Agape! Very intense!

Author Reply: The esquire would not leave me alone, once I read about him and it registered. You know how that is... you read and read and then suddenly a sentence jumps out at you and you have no peace until you write what you are told. Sometimes I think my muse is my 8th grade teacher - nudging me in the back with a ruler!!!

Thanks for the kind compliment!

Ohh, how heartbreaking. I never wondered who Denethor's squire might have been, before Pippin.

Author Reply: I re-read that part because of the cat... and it just touched my heart. There seemed to be a poignancy in Denethor's statement. At least to me, and I wondered about the story of this one who 'left' Denethor. Glad it touched you.
