omg beautiful- i'm writing my own Denethor funeral so this is great inspiration. :( This scene is so sad! Written so well!

What a tender, loving portrayal of Faramir. His love for his father, mother and grandfather is so strong. The prayer to the Valar was a fitting end to this wonderful ficlet.

Author Reply: Bless you - I'm very glad you liked the prayer especially.

Ah, if anyone needed and deserved such a prayer, it was Denethor. And may he know how deeply his son grieved for him--his son and the one who had hoped so deeply to be his friend.

Author Reply: Personally, I don't think it was till the last year or two that Denethor and Faramir became so estranged. Mithrandir visited Minas Tirith in 3018 and stayed until early 3019. It seems to me Faramir would have visited his friend on many occassions... And Denethor probably knew.

I hate that estrangement.... for I love them both.

Thank you for your kindness to Denethor.

OK, definitely an "ick" factor here. But I can see Faramir finding his way here to see for himself after being told what happened to his father.

Author Reply: Yikes! Don't know what the 'ick' is for???

I think Faramir would need some closure.... but that's just me

A beautiful prayer for Denethor. I do believe Faramir would have wanted "unrelenting peace" for his father.

Wonderfully done, Agape.

Author Reply: Thanks, Pearl. At church they spoke of unrelenting peace and it sounded so wonderful and Faramir and Denethor just popped into my head....

How he must have longed to gaze into that globe! But Faramir is strong in every circumstance.

Such a heartbreaking, yet very loving, Father's Day story.

Author Reply: I felt the same way - that it would be extremely difficult for him not to look... however, right before his eyes were the consequences of Denethor's looking... the ruined House of the Stewards and the death of his father.

Thank you for your kind words....
