My Sword Trembles - Book Three - 'My Sword' Series  by Agape4Gondor 6 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 20 on 4/29/2008
"Grumble, grumble, brothers! Grumble grumble!" I can hear it now. And Faramir must learn not to ascribe evil to the Powers.

Author Reply: *giggles* - I do so like the twins! Ah... Faramir has much to learn, Larner, and that is why Elrohir sees the need for a mentor of Aragorn's stature to lead him... gently.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Such a difficult time for a seven year old. Yet he seems to be handling it fairly well for such a young one. It didn’t take him long to get over his fear of the Elves. Elrohir’s gentleness certainly helped. Finding the right words to console someone in deep pain is not an easy task, yet Elrohir was up to it. I so love those Elves.

Author Reply: Ah - who can fear the Elves overlong?????

Elrohir was inspired - good grief, his heart was taken with Faramir, wasn't it. I wonder if Faramir reminded him of Estel when their little brother was about that age????

Thanks for the review!!!!

Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 20 on 4/28/2008
It looks like Aragorn is about to take the seven-year-old Steward for a scouting trip in the orc-infested wilds of Ithilien; while Minas Tirith is unraveling at the child's apparent loss. I would think that India might have a few choice words for "Strider". I certainly hope Strider and the Peredhil get a message to her!

At least, in the meantime, Faramir might have a great time learning woodcraft from his new friend.

Update soon!

Author Reply: Timeline may seem out of skew, Raksha - it is only day two (I think) and they've both been through quite a bit... I'm sure (pretty sure) that Aragorn will get a message to Indis asap.

Thanks for reading... I think Aragorn as Faramir's mentor will be awesome for both!!!

FiondilReviewed Chapter: 20 on 4/28/2008
Elladan sat back on his haunches. “The Song of Power was done rightly. I think the power we unleashed was… incredible is the only word I can think to describe it. If the boy is not spell-free, then naught will free him.” He laughed aloud. “I think perhaps we did not contain it. I think we might have missed some words.”

Elrohir chuckled quietly. “I think we missed something.” The chuckle grew into laughter. His shoulders shook. “I am not telling daernaneth what happened.”

“I will tell her,” Elladan finally stopped laughing himself. “I need to know what words we missed. I wonder if she… Nay, all the Songs probably do what she wants of them. None would dare cross her!”

Aragorn’s bright smile bespoke his love for Galadriel. “She never taught me the Songs.”

“She loves us more,” Elrohir burst into laughter again...

LOL. No, I can't imagine any Song of Power NOT doing what Galadriel wants of them. It would be interesting to find out just what they did wrong so it doesn't happen again.

The discussion about Aragorn teaching Faramir was very interesting and the elves are probably correct. I do think though that someone should tell Indis that the boy is alive. It would be too cruel not to otherwise.

Good chapter, and I'm glad that all that the three brothers got for their troubles was a blinding headache. It could've been a lot worse.

Author Reply: I really don't know if they will ever find out what went wrong, Fiondil. If you were Galadriel, would you really want them to attempt to show her what they did in order to find out what went wrong??? I think not! The Mallorns might have lost all their leaves in the aftermath!!! *grins wickedly*

As for Aragorn - the man wouldn't leave Indis in such a state for long. As soon as he can hobble somewhere to leave a message, I'm sure (pretty sure) he will. Give the man some credit! :-)

ROTFL - it could have been worse - they might have ended up in the tenth dimension with Glorfindel and Finrod (Elf II)!

What an excellent chapter. And of course, if Faramir saw Elladan and Elrohir lying there unconscious with their eyes open he would automatically assume they were dead. I think that Elrohir had a good idea in regards to Aragorn taking Faramir under his wing, so to speak (so long as someone gets a message to Minas Tirith to let Indis know that her nephew is alive, that is). The bit of humour your put in by way of the twins was nicely handled and then Faramir finally got a chance to express his grief, even though it was accompanied by some hard truths about the way the world works and his brother.

I have the nicest mental image of Elrohir holding Faramir on his lap... I wish I could draw it.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Did I tell you that this series is one of my favourite AUs? Well, if I didn't, I'm telling you now. It is.

Hugs,

Edlyn

Author Reply: Thanks ever so much, Edlyn *blushes furiously*

I so wish you could draw that too - it would be a precious sight, wouldn't it for all Elrohir's gruffness.

We'll see what Aragorn can figure out - it's a tough decision.
