A Cat in King Elessar's Court  by Agape4Gondor 10 Review(s)

I just found this story and am very intrigued!

Alqualonde must indeed be a very special cat, a Numenorian cat, if he saw Faramir grow up from childhood.

Author Reply: Well - that is a thought - but the Cat is only twenty - however, that means Faramir was about 16 when the cat was born. Just barely out of diapers to the Cat! LOL So we will let him think that he 'helped' raise Faramir...

Oh, I just love cats and this is a very excellent introduction to what seems to be a very entertaining cat.

Author Reply: Alqualonde sends his regards...

What a delightful idea! Being owned by four cats and visited by a fifth,I'd love to see Tolkien's great events through feline eyes. Trust Gandalf to acknowledge the cat!

Author Reply: It's been a very long time since a cat and I shared a home... I grew up with glorious friendly ones... but my children are allergic and so cats are banned. My gosh - to this day I miss them....

I certainly hope that this isn't a single-shot. What a great idea, if possibly sub-canon, giving Denethor a cat. I would think that Denethor is a cat person; while I see Boromir as a dog person and Faramir as a cat and dog person (though the 'boys' wouldn't have time for pets at this stage in their lives). The characterisation of the cat seems spot-on; and I look forward to seeing more of the story. Loved the recognition of Shadowfax as a mearh!

Author Reply: *giggles* Because of Alqualonde's 'royal' blood - as the dear cat states... it is easy to recognize another royal...

Glad you enjoyed the idea. We'll see if the Muse has more...

Ah, I liked this! How lovely to see Gandalf and Pippin's arrival in Minas Tirith from another POV. I do like Alqualondë. She (I am assuming that this elegant cat is a she, forgive me if I am wrong) seems to be a being of taste and perspicacity. I wonder what her take on Pippin's deciding ot offer Denethor his service would be? Hmmmm.

Well, if this is a one-shot, it's a wonderful one. If it is just hte start of a series then that is wonderful, too.

In the meantime, Balian sends purrs and bows politely to Alqualondë.

Hugs,

Edlyn

Author Reply: I am totally in the dark about this one - but I belive that Alqualonde is a male and that he is black.... but Pip will give us details later on... I'm sure of it - that Hobbit just can't keep his sweet mouth closed!

Alqualonde sends purrs back but bows to no one... :)

A very fascinating beginning. I do hope you write a great deal more of this!

Author Reply: Thanks cathleen. Unfortunately, the cat has serious ideas about going till Aragorn at least arrives... but I'm afraid it's going to go at least a month into Elessar's reign.... The cat's running the show, as they tend to do, and I am just a helpless bystander like you!

Thanks for reviewing!

This is plainly a feline worthy of a *long* story! Among other questions, I'm wondering how Alqua came by that name.

Please continue!

Author Reply: The cat hasn't told me yet! :)

You really must keep going with this, Agape! This is wonderful!!

And I love that you call him the Ernil i Pheriannath :-)

Author Reply: Well, Pearl Took, one royal personage easily recognizes another! *giggles*

The cat, it seems, does not wish this to end anytime soon, but it has 10,000 ideas which I refuse to use them all! Trying to have a little pity on my readers!

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 1/15/2008
Ah, yes--those so innocent appearing plot bunnies that turn out to be small nuzgul in disguise! Heh!

Author Reply: Larner! I'm bleeding the bite is so large!!!

What a marvelous beginning, or even one-shot, if it comes to that. I love seeing the events through the eyes of such a perceptive and noble cat.

Author Reply: Excuse me, shirebound.... but if this was such a perceptive and noble cat - it would let me sleep at night!!! However, I'm very glad you enjoyed this, whatever it is....
