That was even scarier. I got a bit confused as to what exactly happened in that scene with the Dunlending, but I suppose that's just a reflection on how confusing the actual situation was.

Author Reply: This is actually a scene that I would have liked to write from Eomer's point-of-view, but of course it's not possible. I'm sure he had a much clearer picture of what happened, but for Lothiriel it's just very confusing.

My goodness, an Uruk knowing the coins of Gondor - what a miraculous disaster. And Éomer, running to the rescue just in time - you wrote this so vivdly that I almost watched him fighting. He may be angry at her - but they are both still alive, and that is what counts most.

Author Reply: Unfortunately he was a clever Uruk! And I like to write a bit of action, so I really enjoyed being able to slip this fight in. As for being angry, that might be an understatement...

yahooo! an update! you are my hero! Another excellent, wonderful chapter. you are great! i really like the way you ended this one, good ruse and an excellent use of humor to deflect exactally how grim the situationt is. Ususally, people make the mistake of either making the battle unralistic or so too graphic... not that i mind graphic scenes ;) You masterfully avoided both pitfalls and made the scene a very satisfying read. Keep on writing, you have enormous talent!

Have a great week, god bless!

Author Reply: Hello Galimeril,
I didn't want to keep my readers hanging too long after all, so I tried to get this chapter done quickly. It's nice to have my efforts appreciated! The next one will take a little while longer though, I'm afraid, as real life caught up with me over the weekend.

And I wondered how graphic to make the fight (and the battle in general), but mainly I wanted to show Lothiriel's impression of it. She might have been too overwhelmed by her narrow escape to notice all the gory details. They will come to haunt her later, however. And somehow a little humour always creeps in ;-)

Thanks for reviewing!

Oh gosh! I'm glad I checked SoA, I didn't get a story alert. This was another treat-of-a-chapter. Lothy is so brave and crazy and I wonder how she'll talk herself out of Eomer's anger. But at least they're talking and that matters a lot (sorry fangirl relapse here).

The scene where he saves her life is so romantic (I know it's a violent scene) but still it managed to reveal Eomer's "unguarded" self. Perhaps Eomer will realize how Lothy has the tendency to disregard her own welfare just to protect others. Hope this will contribute to their reconciliation (though the Ring War is far from over).

Author Reply: Hello Whitewave,
well, Lothiriel is still pretty dazed from all that has happened, so it won't be easy for her to face Eomer's anger. Especially as she doesn't realise (yet) just why he's so angry.

So in a way it's the first tiny step towards reconciliation and also for Eomer to see the truth about her, but they still have a very long way to go. Still, on the plus side it means the story is far from over ;-)

A very exciting chapter.Lothiriel has such courage.Hooray for Eomer to the rescue!

Author Reply: Hello Linda,
sometimes it's a thin line between folly and courage ;-) And I quite like writing action sequences, but thought at first that I would not have any opportunity in this scenario. But as you see, I managed to sneak a little bit in!

Aha--she knows how much he cares, at least! Love the defense.

Author Reply: Hello Larner,
it will actually take a little outside help for her to realise just why he's so angry, but she'll find out quite soon.

This is a great chapter, so full of tension...your Lothiriel is very brave and foolish, I should add. The fight was so well done, fast and confusing. Well at least she will rewarded as a heroine, she has just prevented the orcs to kill the women and children of the Deep, and she was brave, no one can't take that for her. Eomer, he was just great.

I supposed that this will help a little bit her relationship with Eomer, because there is no way that he can hide his worries for her, but it is no enough, right?

I was thinking that she will find out about Boromir death from Aragorn, I don't know how close are they in you story, but should be sad for her, that may be smooth things with Eomer too? She is going to be at odds with Eowyn as well, thanks that she has the twins and Celwyn(?)

It is very bad if Eomer has to go to Gondor thinking that she is false, they are literally going to the end of the world and with no love, that is cruel.

Thanks and update soon,

Fantasia

Author Reply: Hello Fantasia,
somehow all my Lothiriels end up quite spunky, but also foolish at times. But I don't think that Eomer appreciates at this moment that her wandering off in the caves actually brought them warning where they might have had none!

And Lothiriel doesn't understand yet just why he's so angry with her, although she will eventually. But you are right to think that this is not enough to have them make up before he leaves for Gondor. But then I thought that his behaviour on the Pelennor Fields was not that of a man happily in love, so it kind of fits in with this story.

As for the news of Boromir's death, it will make her sad, but they are in such trouble at the moment that she won't have a lot of time to think on it.

And I'll try to update soon, but real life keeps interfering!

I like the way small physical sensations loom so large for Lothiriel as they make her realize she's still alive. But I fervently hope Wulf will live to snarl another day. Like Eomer. :-)

Author Reply: Hello Daw,
don't worry about Wulf, he actually survived the fight in better shape than Lothiriel ;-) And Eomer will do quite a bit of snarling in the next chapter!
