Wonderful strong chapter. Too bad that it was Imrahil who spied them, but it won't change the outcome. Éomer knows what he wants, and he will get it, of course. And the midnight conversation between Éowyn and Lothiriel was very believable.

Author Reply: Hello Mona,
I do like to have my bit of fun with them, so of course it was Imrahil ;-) But I think they both know exactly what they want, so have a good chance of getting it. And I'm pleased to hear you liked the conversation with Eowyn, I felt it was time for the two to make up.

I'm glad Eowyn and Lothiriel are reconciled through their shared horrors. I hope imrahil will soon give his consent to the marriage.Another very enjoyable chapter.

Author Reply: Hello Linda,
I get the feeling that Imrahil is slowly coming round to the idea after his initial shock. The next chapter will afford him the opportunity to observe Lothiriel in Rohan and perhaps that will help.

I trust that Imrahil is perceptive enough to see what's between his daughter and Eomer. Though I suppose her family does tend to underestimate her. I'm glad she and Eowyn are groping their way to understanding.

Author Reply: I think that Imrahil had a bit of an eye-opener and is slowly warming to the idea of their marriage. But you are right that her family still underestimates her. Perhaps seeing her in Rohan might change that.

So, THAT'S who caught them out, is it--Dad and all three brothers? Heh! Poor thing! And Dad's not so willing to forgive Eomer, although it's plain where the wind of their hearts blows? He's lost her to Eomer already, though; and he's coming to know this as they reach Meduseld at the last.

At least that nightmare has brought some good as Eowyn finally gives over her own anger. Knowing that Grima tried the same with Lothiriel he'd tried with her helped ease the resentment, apparently.

Now, it's just a matter of time....

Author Reply: Hello Larner,
yes, poor Imrahil had a bit of a shock, but I think he's slowly coming round to the idea of his daughter as Queen of the Mark. After all it's not exactly a bad match, is it. So he might choose not to fight a losing battle.

And like you said, one good thing came out of Lothiriel's nightmares if it makes the two women reconcile.

This is an excellent chapter! I love your Eowyn because she is not just a fierce warrior woman, as she is portrayed often in fanfic, but one who is soft inside and seems to really just want a peaceful life with the man she loves.

>>“Yes. But Gríma threatened to use me to disgrace Éomer. So I ran. As far away as I could manage.”...“I ran too,” she whispered, her face a pale oval in the darkness. “All the way to Gondor.”... “And did you find your glory?”...“So they say. But it’s easy to be heroic when you have nothing to lose.”<<

This passage really stands out for me. Eowyn's words are so true.

Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: Hello Alqua,
as they say, courage is not the absence of fear, but rather acting despite of it and I think Eowyn has discovered this. I like to think that she has changed since Lothiriel met her in the early chapters and that this makes her see the world in a different way.

Imrahil! Oh gosh and the three brothers--what a delicious scene! Amrothos is priceless as usual, he's my favorite! He must have been so surprised judging from his thunderstruck "loquaciousness". Ivriniel's "closing" remark is the cherry on the cream--I can imagine how the others' faces must have looked like, Eomer obviously charmed her thoroughly.
I smiled at how Eomer explained his choice of Arwen over Galadriel. LOL. And Lothy's own naughty thoughts made for nice reading. Ravishment indeed! Eomer and Lothy leading the cortege must have been a sight! It's times like this when I wish I could draw.
The scene with Eowyn was very nicely done! How great to see behind the brave exterior of the valiant Shieldmaiden. I hope they're really friends again now.

Author Reply: Hello Whitewave,
yep, the whole lot! Amrothos is probably still reeling from the shock of having his view of the world shattered so rudely. But he has passed on the baton of 'most clueless' to his aunt ;-)

As for Eowyn, I think they'll become friends again. Not just for Eomer's sake, but also because Eowyn knows what it feels like to be manipulated by Grima and so would understand to some degree what made Lothiriel do what she did.

Ah, so it *was* Amrothos!

Um, along with a few other important personages... which made it rather........................... erm, awkward?

Wow, you do know how to start a chapter, Lia!

And a very satisfying one it is. At least, now Imrahil knows how his daughter feels, and how strongly. He had better see her for the intelligent young woman she is, not the former child.

And Amrothos better keep his mouth firmly shut.

I'm very glad to see Éowyn and Lothíriel reconciled, too.

Nice chapter!

Author Reply: Hello Barbara,
I'm afraid I'm just not very kind to my characters - so of course it was the whole family ;-) And I think this was a bit of an eye-opener for Imrahil, so he might finally notice how much his daughter has grown up.

As for Amrothos, we'll just have to hope for the best... *evil chuckle*
