Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 10 Review(s)
TariReviewed Chapter: 8 on 6/3/2008
I have no doubt that the Valar would get frustrated with the Elves. More times than not I am sure.

How many problems will come forth due to Vorondil Herendilion’s release? I’m willing to bet there will be more problems with Calalindalë too. She’s hateful.

Nienna really has her hands full, but I have no doubt that she is up to the challenge. Drowning seems to be her choice way of threatening people. I love her humor.

Dear Vorondil is really having a rought time. I would say to him if I could, "Hang in there, child. Better days are ahead."

Author Reply: Vorondil Sr's release will probably prove very interesting for all concerned to say the least but it will be some time before anyone other than the Valar even know of it.

Nienna has had lots of experience dealing with Elves even worse off than Aldundil and Vorondil, so she's more than capable. I never could see her as spending all her time acting the Weeping Wilma. I just think she has more pity and compassion for the hurts of the world than the others. Glad you like her sense of humor. She's certainly in older sister mode here with Námo and Irmo. *grin*

And with all the Valar rooting for him, I think Vorondil will do fine.

I'll like to see that happenning! I Aldundil and Vorondils' case is really sad....Vorondil never really sees Aldundil as a proper ada does he?

Author Reply: On the contrary, it is Aldundil who doesn't see himself as a proper ada; Vorondil loves his ada dearly and idolizes him, though his perspective is skewed and it needs to be straightened so he can admire his ada in a correct manner. The love has always been there, as we saw when he thought Finrod had killed Aldundil.

Oh this is a great chapter! I really hope Aldundil and Vorondil can finally find some healing. I know Nienna and her people will take good care of them.

I just adore Námo. He so likes keeping everyone on their toes. *grin*

And I'd leave a longer review, but Zar is trying to sit on me. Hard to type with 114 lbs of dog on your lap. LOL

NiRi

Author Reply: Hi NiRi. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. I'm sure with Nienna, Námo and Irmmo in their camp, Aldundil and Vorondil will have no choice but to heal. *grin* And Námo certainly loves to play the mysterious Vala card every chance he gets even with his own siblings. LOL

Saw the pics of Zar. Nice doggy.

Oh dear. I do feel sympathy for Nienna and her task. But it certainly won't be dull, will it?

And poor Vorondil; he is certainly suffering for the sins of his parents, isn't he? And shame on Tarwen and Selmacas for their treatment, or should I say non-treatment of an innocent child.

And I do wonder what will happen when Aldundil is finally reunited with his brother.

So many questions to be answered. As usual, you wrote a fascinating chapter that leaves us panting for more!

Author Reply: It will take some doing for this family to be healed of all the hurts and harms. At least Nienna is the soul of patience and will do everything in her power to help them. How it will all work out... even I don't know, yet. *grin* I'm glad you found this a fascinating chatper. The next chapter I think you will find to be quite funny as Aldundil tries to 'play' with his son.

A most interesting dilemma here! Heh!

Author Reply: I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually.

“Your son, hideously impulsive though he may be” -- *shakes head*

"Calm down, Vorondil.... There’s no need to get excited, child. Findaráto and Glorfindel are fine and someday you will see them again” -- I notice that Nienna carefully avoids the issue of where Finrod and Glorfindel *are* and when they’ll be able to return....

“We’ll work something out for you to do, Aldundil” -- Hopefully Aldundil will come out of this with a new profession that suits him better than the Exchequer.

Just wondering how it would bollix things up if Aldundil or Vorondil Jr. learn that Vorondil Sr. has already been released from Mandos....

Author Reply: The Valar never lie but they're very careful with the truth, so everything Nienna says to Vorondil is the truth, not just the whole of it.

We'll find out in the next chapter what Aldundil ends up studying. And it will be some time before Vorondil Sr. is ready to be released into the general public. At the moment he is still figuring out how to move his fingers now that he has them again. He'll be staying in one of the Gardens of the Reborn for a while yet and then he has to continue on to Lórien. It'll be some time before Aldundil even learns that his brother has been re-embodied.

So many difficult emotions for this little broken family. I feel very sorry indeed for Aldie. I also pity the Vala for the work she has ahead of her. I like her a lot though, with her "cheerful drownings". Too funny! Enjoyed the ending of this chapter very much!

Author Reply: Yes, it's a very broken family, but hopefully Nienna (with a little help from her brothers) will be able to mend some of the pieces together, if not all of it. Nienna is a tough Valië in more ways than one; I'm sure she'll succeed in her task. Glad you liked the ending. Námo is getting sneaky in his old age, isn't he? LOL

Tsk,tsk! Nienna I don't think Namo would appreciate you making more work for him! What to do, what to do, Calalindale is a very bitter and angry woman, I hope Vaire can help her. I do think that Adundil and Vorondil will be healed, once Vorondil gets over this tendency he has of being a bit of a brat, Adundil needs to find where he left his backbone! Nienna is one fiesty, no nonsense Lady and Namo is a sneaky S.O.G!
More please,Lynda

Author Reply: Hopefully all of them will find healing and redemption. Nienna is certainly a no nonsense Valië and Námo is pretty sneaky. Makes it rather interesting, doesn't it? *grin*

Good to see that Aldundil and Vorondil get to spend some time with Nienna! She's their best hope right now, I agree. Not their *last* hope. *shakes head at the Feanturi* I look forward to seeing how this progresses, and if Aldundil can learn to play with his son and be a better atar! Hope so!

Interesting about Vorondil's grandparents' various reactions.

"Drown the lot of them", hmmm? *laughs*

Whoa, wait wait wait...back the truck up...Vorondil-the-other-Vorondil has ALREADY been released? When-how...when did this one happen? *Blinks* Okay, now you've confused me, meldonya.

~Kaylee!!!

*wondering how Finda and Glorfi are doing in the tenth dimension*

Author Reply: Yes, Aldundil's brother, Vorondil, Sr., has been released from Mandos and if you re-read the chapter you will see that Námo tells Nienna that he released him the moment that Calalindalë entered his wife Vairë's domain. He's presently residing in one of the Gardens of the Reborn and it will be some time before he's sent to Lórien, so it will be a while before he's released into the general Amanian society. By then, it is hoped that Aldundil and his son, Vorondil, Jr., will have come to terms with everything and will no longer be under Nienna's care.

Finda and Glorfi are doing fine in the tenth dimension. It'll be a few more chapters, though, before we get back to them.

Marilliën spent all of five minutes putting your meal together. We wouldn’t want to disappoint her now, would we? *LOL* Can I borrow her? It takes me so much longer to do the same!

Anyway, interesting ‚punishment’ for Aldundil – to play with his son. But maybe they can catch up with what they missed earlier on in this way.

Valië of Last Resort? *snort* Oh yes, that’s like Námo! On the other hand, I do understand Nienna only to well that she wants to drown not only certain elves, but her own brother sometimes. So Námo has released the older Vorondil? That will be interesting – and I have to admit, I am a bit worried about what will happen, in spite of all my curiosity. Somehow I get the feeling Finrod will have his hands full when he returns.

Can't wait for the next update (as usual ...)

Author Reply: Finrod will indeed have his hands full when he returns, that's for sure. LOL

Glad you liked this chapter. We'll see in the next chapter just how Aldundil ends up playing with his son and what comes of it.
