Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)
TariReviewed Chapter: 12 on 6/9/2008
This is an absolutely fascinating concept. Fea’s uniting to find those who are lost. I have to what until tomorrow to find out if Beleg ends up with Findarato and Glorfindel.

I forgot to post the following with the previous chapter:

I have decided I would love to have the Valar decorate my house. They are better than any interior decorator I know of. Their clothes and homes sound absolutely gorgeous.

Author Reply: We won't actually see what happened to Beleg for a few chapters as we need to return to Finrod and Glorfindel as they await the coming of Manwë to tell them about Eärendil.

I wouldn't mind 'borrowing' some of the Valar's clothes myself, LOL Thanks for reviewing.

Well, this is an interesting turn of events. :) Namo is going to be very, very upset with Orome if Beleg shows up in his Halls again! I'm hoping that it's something like when Glorfindel slipped his leash and they'll be able to track him down really soon - I know the reborn's fea is different than that of the once born and he is so recently reborn that it doesn't seem like it would take too much for him to slip out of his body. At least that's what I'm hoping for! I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author Reply: I'm sure Oromë is going "Oops!" right about now. LOL We'll find out what happened to Beleg soon enough, but I assure you he hasn't died again. It's as you say, more like when Glorfindel slipped his leash. The next chapter will return to Finrod and Glorfidnel and pick up where we left them last.

Now things are beginning to get exciting. Keep up!

Author Reply: Thanks sprite. I'm glad you're enjoying this.

Interesting idea that everything resonates with an echo of the original Song, and the Reborn resonate just a bit differently from everyone else.

*Besides, I have the feeling we’re not meant to actually go to where Glorfindel and Findaráto are, but to provide them with an anchor so they can come to us* -- That's intriguing. And are Glorfindel and Finrod supposed to come with or without their hröar? I had previously assumed Eärendil would somehow bring them back (he always seems to be my choice of deus ex machina) but I suppose if any two elves *could* manage to teleport between dimensions -- and survive the experience! -- it would be those two....

When Beleg's fëa shows up in the Tenth Dimension, I'm imagining Glorfindel screaming, "He's dead! He's dead!" Though last time, it was *Finrod* who was screaming -- and neither of them would remember the experience.

After this episode, I'm sure there's going to be another item on the list of Things Not To Let the Recently Reborn Get Involved In.

Any thoughts about Nahar being immortal or not? Huan obviously lived much longer than he should have; and who knows how long he'd have lived if not for Carcharoth? And was Oromë the only Vala who collected apparently-immortal animals? [Wondered about Nahar again recently because I was playing Canon Police on another site re. elves having immortal horses in Middle-earth.]

Author Reply: How exactly things will work out for Beleg, Finrod and Glorfindel will be revealed shortly, though not immediately, as we need to get back to Finrod and Glorfindel and see what they are up to. As to how they will react to seeing Beleg in fëa only.... well....

Anyway, I suspect that the Valar, Námo especially, are keeping that list at hand at all times. I think Námo is even considering writing a book: "The Care and Feeding of the Recently Reborn". LOL

I think perhaps that Nahar might actually be a Maia servant of Oromë rather than a real animal, which would explain his immortality, but we'll probably never know for sure.

Thanks for reviewing.

Back to the hunting lodge from Mahanaxar...where there *the weather* conspires to keep these hunters isolated just as Glorfindel was by the snowstorm. Ingwion's experiences will be valuable before all is said and done. Impressions: Above what is said here, one wonders if the manner of Sador and Beleg's deaths and their experiences in Mandos are another thread connecting these two. Sador is innocence, and Beleg is a seeker. Laurendil for his loyalty. Lovely picture of them seeing each other as they truly are...beings of light. I'm not surprised that Beleg would be the one to slip the leah, but I think he's going to be surprised to find himself in a place he didn't intend, lol...although the nermir have collected him for the journey. Love the idea of them as the Song made visible. Not very coherent, but this chapter provokes a myraid of thoughts, and I'm still processing!

Author Reply: More coherent than you think. *grin* I think your analysis of the four Elves is very insightful and quite true. I'm glad that this chapter is thought-provoking. I think there is much more to it than what one reads on the surface. Thanks for reviewing.

And then they were three...

Glorfindel and Finrod will shurely be glad to have Beleg´s company.

Are the butterflies the same as those in Wars of the Valar? If yes, I think that there is a higher power meddling in the plans of the Valar and the Hunt. Could it be that by following Beren´s fea back to his body Glorfindel and Finrod are able to return?

Author Reply: Yes, the butterflies are the same (more or less) as those in Wars of the Valar?I>, a manifestation of Eru in Eä. We will find out just what happens to Beleg soon. We need to go back to Finrod and Glorfindel first and see what they've been up to all this time. Thanks for reviewing.

So there I am this morning, innocently getting ready for work, when a little nudge pushes me to SoA - I could swear, I honestly could, Fiondil.... To have to go to work after reading that chapter is a great sacrifice!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Hunt - I'm glad they started it, but was surprised the way it went. I remember when our hero went off with his fea and the Valar almost lost their lunches over that one! Imagine Beleg going off! I'm hoping that he at least stays in this dimension..... But it wouldn't surprise me that, of all of them, he'd be the one to find the lost... after all, he found Turin, didn't he!!!

I'm afraid there is a Vala and some Elves going to be in hot water with Manwe! The best laid plans of mice and men - er, Valar and Elves....

Can't wait till the next chapter.

Author Reply: I'm sure Manwë will have a few words to impart to Oromë (he will hold the Elves blameless in all this) once he finds out what happens. Of course, what Námo will say about it....

Glad you enjoyed this chapter. Hope you weren't too late getting to work. *grin* Thanks for reviewing, Agape.

Oops! Looks like Orome's 'Hunt' was a little more sucessful than he had planned! :<( I don't think Manwe and Namo are going to be too pleased with him if Beleg's fae is 'lost'! Let's hope he can find his way to the 10th dimension and Glorfy and Finda, and find his way beck to his body!
More please,
Lynda
(Oh, and by the way, old habits do die hard, I have learned the hard way not to shake my husband awake, but to grab a foot :<)!)

Author Reply: I have a friend whose husband is a black belt in karate and she's learned to wake him by standing at the bedroom door and yelling. *grin*

I don't think Oromë expected the Hunt to go quite the way it did, which just goes to show that the Valar can still be surprised by the Children. We will see what has happened to Beleg eventually but first we have to return to Finrod and Glorfindel still waiting to hear what the Elder King has to say to them.

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 12 on 6/2/2008
And they begin to find the lost, but are drawn back, save Beleg who had already unconsciously divined the path to be taken. Now they need to bring the other three back!

A rude awakening for these three remaining. Perhaps Orome needed to trust them a bit more.

Author Reply: We will see how Beleg is able to help bring Finrod and Glorfindel back to Aman shortly. I think the poor Vala underestimated his elves just a tad. *grin*
