Could this be the calm before the storm? Things are just too peaceful as far as I'm concerned.

Author Reply: Yeah, things are a little too peaceful. *grin* Next chapter will show what kind of storm is brewing.

Hi Fiondil,

So, it will be good to have Glorfindel on the move again, though I know there's a bit of story to take care of first. One guesses from the mood of some of the elves in Kortirion that the meeting the next day may be "interesting". I'll wait patiently, I really will. But I really can hardly wait until Glorfindel continues on his quest! At least the Progress has given him a few sources of information he might not have found otherwise, even though they were right under his nose.

Joanne

Author Reply: Hi, Joanne. Yes, Glorfindel will be moving on soon enough. The Progress will be wrapping up pretty soon and rather dramatically, I think. Not that we won't also be looking in on Finrod and the others to see what they are doing in the meantime, but once the Progress is done with we will spend a little time with Glorfindel exclusively.

Well, that didn't go too bad. I'm not sure if I am glad or disappointed; after all that happened already in this story, I am always on edge in such a situation, expecting something bad to happen. Am I weird or what? On the other hand, Finrod seems to feel similar ...

Ah, so Glorfindel has found another one to ask about Eärendil! Would be nice when Sador could tell him a bit about him. And I am glad he will not run away on his search without a word; we have all seen what huge amount of trouble that caused last time.

Author Reply: Well not every day has to be disastrous. Even heroes need a day or two off from such things. *grin* That doesn't mean though that something won't happen later on.

We will see what Glorfindel learns from Sador (if anything) soon enough. And I think Glorfindel is maturing enough to act more responsible towards others, hence his promise to Finrod to tell him where he is going when he does go.

The park sounds beautiful. And Sador was in the tree chosen by Earendil for his main mast? Most interesting!

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the description of the park. As I said in reply to another review, I modeled this on the King's Garden in Prague which is devoted to trees from around the world.

And Sador... well, he was still rather young at the time. Probably 'tagged' along with the oldsters, got bored and decided to play. Hopefully he wasn't too unhappy to know that his 'playground' was about to be chopped down for the main mast. *grin*

Hmm….A nice and quiet day, for once. I loved the orange-fruit trees and I’m sure the park was worth to be seen. I liked their initiative, to preserve even a bit of Middle-earth, as a proof of the fact that some things are worth to be seen and remembered.

“She sometimes acts as if she is the only one who has lost a loved one and waits for their release from Mandos.” Well, there is that. “grin” However, I’d like to know also the backstory , as to better appreciate whether she had the right to sulk. Or to think that she had the right to sulk. “lol”

Glorfindel seems to be near his target. Save that he’d find rather the wife of the one he was looking for…but that might be only my point of view. At any rate, the meeting should be an interesting one, whomever he would find. “grin”

I liked much Kortirion in your description. The imagery was beautiful.

Author Reply: Well, every once in a while there are nice, quiet days, even for our intrepid heroes. *grin* Don't know if there will ever be any backstory about Galadhwen other than what we see here. Sometimes my characters don't always 'fess up. I have even had a few who refused to tell me their names for two or three chapters, which is really frustrating.

As to who Glorfindel will find and how remains to be seen.

I am so glad you liked my description of Kortirion. I have tried to make the three major communities of Tavrobel, Avallónë and Kortirion unique in their own ways with their own ambiance and architecture yet also be clearly elvish in design.

Thanks for your review, Sitara. I really appreciate it.

My favorite bit of this chapter was Sador telling about going to the Birchwoods of Nimbrethil when Earendil and Cirdan chose the trees from which Vingilot was built. While my drabble showed the selection of the tree from which the keel was made, here you've told us about the mainmast. I know that my drabble series is separate from your ficverse, but from now on, I'll always envision Sador sitting in the tree! :)

It was nice to have a relatively quiet chapter. I'm sure the next one will be a bit more exciting in one way or another.

I love the idea of the garden of Middle-earth species. :) I know I'd love to walk there!

As usual, well done!

Author Reply: Hi, Rhyselle. I am glad you liked Sador's reflection on Eärendil. I vaguely remembered reading your drabble about Eärendil and Círdan searching for the tree from which they would make the keel and I guess that perhaps they found the mainmast at the same time. No doubt both Eärendil and Círdan were highly amused to find an elfling in the tree and probably had to coax him down before they could start chopping. *grin*

In Prague there is the King's Garden created in the 17th or 18th century. This is a tree garden in which trees from all over the world have been brought and I think they are still collecting seedlings and such even today. There was one tree there called a Dawn Redwood that was thought to be extinct until it was discovered in a single valley in a remote region of China. It's quite an interesting place to visit and I sort of modeled this garden on it.

I see that Glorfindel has found another source of information on Eärendil. It shall be interesting to see just what information Sador has.

I suspect Glorfindels plan is to visit Eärendil - though it shall be interesting to see the various reactions when he is ready to unveil his plans ;-)

Heh. "I have a feeling tomorrow’s meeting with the city council and the guilds will be less than peaceful.” And I have to wait _an entire week_ to find out just how "less than peaceful" it will be. And who will be the source of the "less than peaceful" behaviour...

Author Reply: We will see what Glorfindel learns from Sador and what he plans to do with the information. And as for what will happen with the council meeting... we'll see that too. Sorry you have to wait an entire week to find out, but with my other stories also needing to be posted.... *grin* But I think the wait will be worth it.
