Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 6 Review(s)

“Do you not think it strange that those working on the Tower were brought blindfolded to the site, that Maiar had to guide them in? Something tells me that there is more to it than a simple wish for privacy on Eärendil and Elwing’s part.” That's true. I still find the whole thing a bit odd, as the tower is so far removed from 'civilisation' that they'd not have to deal with many visitors anyway. Really look forward to find out more.

Author Reply: We'll find out eventually what up with all the secrecy. With the Valar there's always a reason even if we don't think it's a good one. *grin*

I wonder if perhaps Mánatamir was meant to be with Glorfindel (with the help of the Valar). I still find it interesting that Glorfindel is allowed to continue on this quest, when no one else was. Will he, or will he not, finally get to meet his Adar?

Author Reply: I'm pretty sure that Mánatamir was meant to be there. As for the quest, this is Glorfindel's and no one else's so it stands to reason that he would be allowed to continue on it. The others were simply not invited. *grin* How it all turns out, though, remains to be seen.

I now wonder what warning it is his heart tells him of.

Author Reply: We'll learn about that soon enough. He really should have been paying more attention, but he's still a bit new at this.

Heh. This "shadow of a threat" Glorfy has detected presumably means there is some sort of critter whose ancestors were bioengineered by Morgoth lurking around - and which at some point perhaps will try to find out what this new prey tastes like.

Of course, actually getting the prey to a state where it can be tasted may not be all that easy - we know what Glorfy is like with sharp-and-pointy items, and hopefully his new friend will at least be able to help out ;-)

All of which should teach Glorfy to pay attention to his new alarm system. well, it _is_ new, and presumably he isn't used to it yet...

(Of course, it may be possible that they _won't_ meet the critter, but since you already have delivered the warning, I think it is unlikely that you _won't_ make what use of it you may...)

Author Reply: You may be right about that, Sunny. We'll see soon enough if Glorfindel's "shadow of a threat" means anything. If it does, Glorfindel is going to have to learn to trust his new 'alarm system' a lot more. And it is still rather new to him so he's bound to make a few mistakes before he figures it out. What happens next, only time and the Muse will tell. *grin*

Lovely chapter. I like the "on the road" parts of your stories very much!

I'm in the middle of cooking myself, so I enjoyed reading about the meals that Glorfindel and Manatamir put together for themselves along the way. Cundu is a fun addition to the cast as well.

I have a feeling that whether that momentary sense of threat that Glorfindel sensed was a fragment of memory of his first journey through these lands, or a warning of a new danger, something interesting is ahead for them!

I supposed that I've been reading your stories too long because even as I am enjoying Manatamir's entrance into the tale, I find myself wondering if he really is who he says he is... Cundu too. *grin* But I won't press... because sometimes an apple is just an apple and not an orange in disguise!

It's always a pleasure to open my email and see the story alert for any of the tales that you write. But this one continues to be among my favorites.

As always, well done!

Author Reply: Hi, Rhyselle. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and I'm glad you like the "on the road" parts of my stories as well. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy writing them from time to time.

All your wonderings will be answered soon enough, just be patient. And it's always a pleasure to open my email and see that I've gotten a review from you. Thank you. I really appreciate them.

I guess Alagos must have some Mountain Goat in his ancestry?
Well they are nearly there, but I think that Glorfindel will wish he had followed up on his bad feeling, somehow I don't think it is going to be as easy as he hopes it will be to find the Tower, the Mair went to some lengths to protect its location.
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Whether or not Glorfindel's bad feeling means anything remains to be seen as is just how easy or hard it will be for him to find Eärendil and Elwing. I promise not to leave you in suspense for too long. *grin*
