Just A Cold  by Aelaer 14 Review(s)

Great start. I enjoyed his time with Faramir - and was grateful for the mercy shown the guards.

As for the note in the beginning regarding the bells - it's something good to know. I've always had trouble with Tolkien's blasted bells!

Author Reply: Tolkien's bells *are* really difficult. It took me a couple hours to finally figure out how the bells worked.

Oh well, I don't know who's worse - these stubborn ones like Aragorn who refuse to acknowledge that they're not well until it has gotten really bad - or the ones who go to bed and decide they're dying because of a simple headache or a slight cold.

Anyway, as a healer, Aragorn certainly should know better! (And accept that the sickbed is *not* as bad as a cell - though that one had me laughing aloud!)

Love Faramir here, with his concern for Aragorn - and his 'Elrondian Eyebrow' ;-) The same goes for their relationship and the way Faramir in the end helped Aragorn to escape without the guard noticing him.

Author Reply: Oh, certainly the latter! They are usually the lazy type, while the former are the hard workers.

I actually was inspired by Aragorn's 'I am well no matter what you say' attitude not only by fanon (which has, admittedly, influenced me) but also my mother. She is a ridiculously hard worker and will never slow down until she collapses. She was, ironically, also a nurse once upon a time! I now associate hard workers with slight negligence to health, and Aragorn is certainly no slacker :)

Oh, the sickbed can be certainly awful, though! ;)

Thanks for the lovely review.

Oh, he owes Faramir big time, doesn't he? Hee! Save he's getting more ill by the moment at this point!

He's a lucky king if he gets to clear his calendar over a headache. Why do I have a suspicion that he's going to feel worse before this is over though.

Author Reply: Because I'm writing it ;)

I love the humor that you put into this piece and love the stubborn Aragorn you have written. How Aragorn evaded the guards was funny too. The coughing sounds serious! I can't wait for more!

Author Reply: The way I see it is that no guy who wanders around a really dangerous world could ever survive if he were not ridiculously stubborn. I mean, you have to be stubborn to *live* in some of the situations he likely encountered. Thanks for the review, perian- sorry there are no hobbits! :P

Silly man does not know when he is sick, and should be in bed taking a nice long nap and maybe some ice cream for his throat. I visited the website you mentioned, in the first chapter, and want to thank you for all the wonderful fun I had there.

Author Reply: Ice cream sounds *really good* right now... *drools*

Glad you liked Tuckborough! It's one of my favorite LOTR sites, especially when it comes to their descriptions on obscure characters. They even have pictures from Decipher's cards, which is simply awesome.

Ainu, I'm so glad to see your muse is cooperating again. I missed your stories very much. And that was a great first chapter.

Elessar never learns, does he? Instead of admiting he's ill, there he goes again traipsing all over Minas Tirith. :LOL

I loved the bit about his chest of old clothes, and can't wait to see what is going to happen.

Oh we are sooooo good at deluding ourselves aren't we? Enjoying this and looking forward to more.

Author Reply: Delusion is fun! Most plots wouldn't exist if someone wasn't delusional ;)

Thank you for the review, hope you enjoy this next part as well :D

I loved the dialogue between Aragorn and Faramir. "Yes, Naneth" indeed!

Something tells me Aragorn is going to regret not taking care of that cold...

Author Reply: I like piling regrets on the characters. It's a fun pasttime.

Thanks for the review ^^

Oh Aragorn...You stupid, stupid Dunadan... *rolls eyes*

I did love Faramir joining in w/the distraction and how his and Aragorn's thoughts about the Guards were so eeriely similar. LOL!!

I've never had a sinus infection thankfully, but I've heard about them. Aragorn's going to pay for not listening to himself or Faramir.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. :oD

Author Reply: Sinus infections are absolutely awful.

And those of Dunedain lineage are known to be completely idiotic when it comes to their own well-being *nod* After all, no race dies out that easily without being somewhat self-destructive ;)

Thanks for the review :)
