| Wow - what a great chapter. So easygoing and descriptive yet fun. I really liked the bar scene and the patrons. Glad they 'kept a civil tongue' especially about Lord Denethor. Good to see that Aragorn is able to listen and perhaps do something for them. Especially since they are old soldiers of Gondor. I like that he would look after them! Author Reply: Considering that Gondor is very much a hierachial monarchy, I also like to think that Aragorn would think of those at the bottom- and old soldiers would certainly be there. | |

| It is easy to see why Aragorn sometimes wants to walk around incognito, simply watching his people, enjoying it not to have to be King. The restrictions of this office have to be rather tiring sometimes. And it is very interesting, what he gets to hear in this inn. Why do I have the feeling there will be something changing about these public audiences very soon? As for Captain Thorongil - I wonder if Corudir and his fellows will find out just *what* became of him? Author Reply: I would imagine so. | There is good reason at times for rulers to do a bit of snooping about incognito and on their own. One DOES learn things, after all! Author Reply: Oh yes, certainly. And while spies are useful to a point, it's just so much more fun to send the actual big-guy to do his own snooping... at least, if the big cheese is King Elessar ;D | |

| I loved this chapter, Ainu. It's good to see Aragorn again sitting in the shadows and listening to what his people have to say about him. I'm sure those public meetings will change most drastically. And trust Aragorn to know which criticism to heed, and which to disregard. I do hope he'll let Giladan, Corugir and Co know about Thorongil's fate. That should be fun to read. | |

| I like the little voice in Aragorn's head. If only he would pay more attention to it... His vision was cool too. (Not hallucinations, I hope). At least this venture is producing some good, that Aragorn is learning what some of the people think. A little bit embarrassing for the men, though, if they knew. -Kitt : ) Author Reply: Not hallucinations, certainly- I imagine hallucinations would be more along the lines of fiery brimstone and torture, or purple ponies and flying pigs.
