Adventures of an Éored: Sins of the Father  by Katzilla 3 Review(s)

An excellent chapter - as always...

I was reading in the lunchroom and didn't get to 'mark up' the paper as I usually do... but there was so much in this chapter that was wonderful.

You capture an Eomer who is quite believable. I'm glad his friend from the future is with him now... his awareness of a problem and then trying to solve it - and his courage to come up against THE Rohir - are great.

What I like best is that you have now kept the tension pretty intense for both chapters... I'm wanting to find out what the heck is wrong with Arnhelm and smack him side of the head, but I love that I don't know yet - and more importantly - Eomer doesn't know yet.

Great chapter - keep 'em coming! I'm ready, I'm ready!

Your fan....

Author Reply: Hi Agape,

and thanks again for your treasured comments! I'm glad you liked the chapter and especially to hear that you find my version of Éomer "believable". I'm really working hard in my effort to correct his image of a "mindless brute" he seems to have gained in fanfiction after the movies.

Well, so now you'll find out what happened with Arnhelm and Eomund, and I can't wait to read what you think. :-)

best,
katzilla

Hi Katzilla,

Glad that you are back, I've always enjoyed your stories. This one promises to be very interesting. Young riders in action! and it seems that Eomer is inhering some old problem. I'm guessing that his father and Arnhelm had a conflict...a lot of possibilities there...from military career to a wife...we'll see.

I like that your Eomer thinks before acting, and is behaving according to his recruit rank (so far) Usually in most of the fics he is always acting before thinking, but I believe that as a warrior, that is not the case, it is just that people try to match him with his father character plus Eomer charge in Gondor, which I think that was an extreme circumstance, they literally were charging to death. Anyway, I love your Eomer, really.

I like to see his friendship with Eothain, in this early period, did I already told you that I was mad when you kill him in Ghost...? It will be interesting to see him bonding with the warriors, he will be their King after all...

Thanks, Fantasia.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia,

and thanks once again for your thoughts on my latest chapter. :-) Yes, I also find the Rohírrim in action wonderful to write about; I wonder why it is that not many authors take advantage of that. I'm also glad to hear that you like my version of Éomer, as I am quite enraged to find that in the majority of fanfiction world, he tends to get written as a mindless, raging bull, something that contradicts the way Tolkien had written him. A mindless brute would certainly not have acted the way Éomer did when he first meet Aragorn and his companions on the plains, placing his life in a stranger's hands on good faith.

As for killing "Éothain"in " Ghost Story", I must admit that it was only because it was my first-ever LotR-story, and I had the greatest problems in thinking up Rohirric names for my characters, so I browsed the book to find who had survived the Ring War... poor Éothain! I hope you are not so angry at me now that you won't read on... ;-)

Now I guess Eomund has done something to annoy the scout - his hot temper and all that. Ideas spring to mind but I will wait and see. LBJ
