Trotter  by Dreamflower 7 Review(s)

Oh, I loved Dirhael and Ivorwen's wedding! A Yule wedding seems so perfect for those who will bring forth Hope. (So to speak, although it is their child who shall be the Bearer of Hope, as it were). I also love that Dirhael is the Poet, in case I didn't say so before :)

That was so touching when Trotter was invited to join the Rangers and come with them on patrol. I liked how he hadn't realized that they might still want him along.

Author Reply: Yes, at heart he's still a modest young hobbit. But even though he doesn't truly understand all the implications yet, he's found a new family.

A wedding ceremony without contracts and seven signatures in red ink - he's not in the Shire anymore! I love that Trotter taught Ivorwen how to cook. He knows a veiled plea for help when he hears one. So he's considered a Ranger now, and has decided to go out with the others to the South. Hmmmm...

Author Reply: Yep! I'm sure that seemed very strange to him!

I had no idea until I began to write that Ivorwen could not cook! I was quite surprised to discover that about her.

"Ranger Trotter", on a mission to lands he has never seen before and in the company of the two famous Elf Twins! What else could he wish for?

Ivorwen would have loved him to stay, though, I'm quite sure. For who else would have given her more cooking lessons ;-)

(I like that lady already. I, too, would appreciate Trotter's cooking lessons!)

Author Reply: Yes, he's seeing a lot of the world, isn't he?

I'm sure she would have! *grin*

Sounds like that series of books I read many years ago - Choose Your Own Adventure. I have led a very sheltered life so far myself and wish to see more too! You have build an interesting series here as I have said before and it's just neat to see it all unfold.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you, dear!

Secretly I was hoping for some sort of Ranger Initiation Ceremony, but this seems more authentic. ^_^

The idea of Ivorwen being a terrible cook tickled me (having a hobbit around certainly does help with that!). We don't know too much about her and Dirhael but what you've written does seem to fit in and put a little more life in them.

Nice chapter; can't wait to see what Trotter does on the patrols (okay, so I've already seen it on your journal, but I couldn't wait to see it yesterday!).

Author Reply: *grin* I think the Rangers tend to keep things low-key, although I am sure there are lots of "little things" the old hands put the new ones through on the trail!

Sometimes these ideas just come to me-- I don't know why Ivorwen told me she couldn't cook...

*grin* Another chapter up soon!

Oh, I love the place he is forging for himself among he Dunedain of Eriador, his babysitting, and his obviously growing love for Arador. And now he IS a Ranger indeed!

Author Reply: Yes, now he really *is* a Ranger!
