A Place to call Home  by Kara's Aunty 5 Review(s)
AntaneReviewed Chapter: 1 on 4/26/2009
I don't know how I missed this one but I did - sorry! But lovely to see it because I have missed you, cousin mine! Gimli would indeed love such a place.

Namarie, God bless, Your impish bloom :)

Very nice, and so proper to Dwarven sensibilities!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

SO sorry for the belated reply, life's been a bit odd recently. But I'm glad you like dear Gimli's song. He's such a pussycat when he's in love - whether it's with Galadriel or the Glittering Caves. It's always fun to write about him!

Thanks for R & R-ing (& sorry, again),

M ;)

Lovely! I always liked how the caves made Gimli wax eloquent in the books, and if anything were to inspire him to poetry (aside from the Lady Galadriel) it'd be these.

Minor niggle, however: as far as I can tell the "cries of fearful child" only happened in the movies, as an attempt to make the audience all teary-eyed, think that the Free Peoples of Middle-earth were idiots, and/or give the Jackson children more cameos. Helm's Deep was a purely military outpost in the books, and all of the women and children in the area were in the much safer hold of Dunharrow at the time.

Author Reply: Hello Celeritas,

Thanks for your thoughts & for R & R-ing,

M ;)

This is an excellent bit of verse! I love Gimli's enthusiasm for the caverns--indeed, it is very canon!

Author Reply: Hello Dreamflower,

I thought it was time we heard his enthusiasm for the beautiful caverns! Glad you enjoyed.

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Her caverns deep within the earth
Give weary feet a homely berth

Marvelous song! It's just perfect for Gimli, and truly reveals his heart and spirit.

Author Reply: Hello shirebound,

what a very nice thing to say!

Gimli is fond of his shiny caves, isn't he? They seem to be the only creations in Middle Earth that can truly move him to speak his heart (apart from Galadriel, before she left!).

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)
