The Findaráto Diaries  by Fiondil 8 Review(s)
hawkeyeReviewed Chapter: 34 on 8/2/2014
Glorfindel is still creating mayhem! Good for him. As much as they pretend to the contrary, I think the Valar and Maiar enjoy it. It keeps things interesting, if nothing else.

I was surprised by Arafinwë's reticence in greeting his son. He suspects, I think. I had the thought reading this that Arafinwë might be more hurt than he lets on, especially given Eärnur's insight about how long he and Eärwen had to wait for Finrod to be reborn.

Námo is a fascinating character. I'm beginning to like him way more than I ever thought I would. It seems there's a lot more to him than just the Doomsman of the Valar :)

Author Reply: Yes, Glorfindel is quite the Elf, isn't he, even when he's dead. LOL!

Arafinwë has his suspicions as to why Finrod really wanted to go to Lórien and I think he was hurt that his son was less than truthful about his motives. At least Irmo was able to provide Finrod with a legitimate story of how he spent his time in Lórien by sending him and Eärnur off on their own.

Námo is my favorite Vala (at least in the way I write him) and he figures prominently in many of my stories. Being the Doomsman of the Valar is actually his least favorite role; he much prefers being the Counselor and Consoler of Souls.

Thanks for the review, Hawkeye. It's appreciate.

Oh, the trials of a Vala. He finally gets Finrod quieted down and rethinking his situation, when a ruckus arises with Glorfindel in the middle. What is that rascally elf up to now?
There is never a dull moment when the elves are around.

Author Reply: No idea what Glorfindel was doing, but it had to be a doozy if Maranwë was swearing in Valarin. *LOL* And no, there is never a dull moment for any of the Valar when the elves are around, especially for Námo and especially when the elf is Glorfindel.

Hopefully Finrod's explanations about Quenya and Sindarin will help these Amaneldi to understand better how the exiles felt and why they adopted the new language and identities. I think it might help them with the Reborn, too.

So that was the occasion when Finrod got his 'little talk'. Had already wondered when that will occur, and seeing how reluctant he was in taking up his duty as his father's heir, it was to be expected that it had to be around this time. But all in all, it went quite well, I think.

The end left me giggling, of course. Who is looking forward to Glorfindel's release more - Finrod or the Valar and Maiar, I wonder? *evil grin* Of course, now I want to know what Glorfi did this time ;-)

Author Reply: I'm sure that Finrod's discussion with the healers will make some of them think and be more aware of why their charges act as they do and be more understanding, though we know that for the most part that will not be the case for some time to come.

Finrod did tell Glorfindel that his "chat with Námo" was very mild compared to what others experienced. *grin* But it should have the desired effect of getting him to take up his responsibilities.

And I have no idea what Glorfindel did this time but it must have been something if it got even the unflappable Maranwë cursing in Valarin. I'm sure Námo had a time and a half getting things settled and wishing he could throw Glorfindel out of Mandos a lot earlier than planned. *grin*

A time to rethink and to show himself ready to do what is expected of him as haryon. And he will do well at it, I am certain!

Author Reply: Very true, Larner, and we know that he has what it takes. He just needs a little more confidence at this point in time.

How funny about the cursing maranwe at the end.

You brought soemthing very interesting to light in this cah[ter with Finrod doubting his own wisdom and the burden of judgement placed on each "good" ruler. If Finrdo would just open up to his atar and talk to him about these things, I think he woudl be very surprised at what he learns and at how similar he and his atar still are. You would also have a really good chapter on your hands *teehee*

Can't wait to see what happens next!

Author Reply: Finrod and Arafinwë will talk after this and we will see what comes of it. Glad you found the end funny with Maranwë cursing. I am sure he will be very happy to see Glorfindel leave the 'nest' and it can't happen soon enough for him, I have no doubt. *grin*

Uh oh! Now what has Mr. Unperdictable done to get Maranwe swearing in Valarin! Eonwe is going to be busy!
Let's hope Namo's little chat helps Finrod find his place, he does need purpose in his life, being Haryon should be a full time job, one he will have to learn from the ground up as he had little or nothing to do with court life when he lived in Aman.
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi, Lynda. I have no idea what Mr. Unpredictable has done but it must have been a doozy to get Maranwë all in a twist. *grin* We will see just how helpful Námo's chat was in getting Finrod focused on his present duties in the next chapter. His memories of his life in Nargothrond should help him there.

Great chapter. I was wondering if there was going to be an extension of that chapter from EI1 in here.
One question. Why did Varda send the missive when Namo could have just sent one him self? I didn't think that Varda was to involved with the reborn.
"....he understood that Findaráto was a special case...."
Namo, get used to special cases. Take a prep course on special reborn cases or something. Glorfindel hasn't even been released yet. :)
Really enjoyed this chapter.
Mr.Namo

Author Reply: Glad you liked the chapter. I think Námo decided that Varda should send the summons as being less upsetting than getting such a summons directly from Námo himself. Even so, we saw that Finrod jumped to some wrong conclusions that certainly did upset him. *grin* How his little chat with the Lord of Mandos works out will be shown in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing, Mr. Námo. I really appreciate it.

Hmmm ... That Talk, yes. Fleshed out with stuff relevant to Finrod and his role as haryon.

Maranwë swearing in Valarin? Yes, that must be Glorfindel. Whatever trouble he and his new friends is in, it _has_ to be a doozy!

Author Reply: Yes, That Talk. *LOL* We will see how it works out for Finrod in the next chapter.
