The Fourth of July  by Agape4Gondor 6 Review(s)

I always needed a fic or two to see Faramir's grief becuase the pain is indeed so real in losing your whole family in the war against Denethor. It is nice that Pippin is there and Merry and Aragorn are there as well. There should be chapter 2 that describes some more comfort which would be a great continuation. :)

I think this was perfectly done. We don't often read about Faramir's struggle to move on with his life. He really did lose so much of himself to the War. It can't have been easy for him to move forward even with close friends and his new wife. Very moving.

Author Reply: Thank you. I feel that he and Eowyn's attraction might have been the 'need' to anchor onto another with the same loss and the same experiences.... And she was gone, for a time, and thus he was left anchorless.....

Again, thanks for the review.

This is an interesting piece, something I've never seen explored before. Of course Faramir would be distressed. And seeing all the happiness around him. I cansee his need for the strong presence of Éowyn at his side, one of the people who can understand some of his pain since she lost a father and a brother (in the emotional sense) as well.
But it is good for him to know that there are others that he can rely on, that he's not alone in his grief.

Wonderfully written and stanks for sharing.

Author Reply: My goodness *blushes* Thank you for the kind words. Yes, Eowyn could understand fully. I'm sure they spoke of it, if not often, at least in understanding.

Again many thanks for your kind review!

Sad, Agape.

Author Reply: In the midst of the 'joy' encompassing Gondor at this time... the war won, a king crowned, a wedding planned... it seems easy enough to forget even such an heart-rending anniversary...

Thank you for your review.

Aragorn stood. “Come, we will go find the others of our company, feed this half-starved Hobbit, and speak of days gone by and the valor of our friends.”

That's a wonderful plan. I enjoyed this very much.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! Poor Pippin - I'm sure his stomach was growling something awful by this time *g*

Very plausable for both faramir and Pippin to weep. A lovely ending to this too.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your review! Without friends, what would we do.....
