The Valley is Jolly  by Canafinwe 3 Review(s)
InzilbethReviewed Chapter: 14 on 1/4/2010
Oh things are looking up for Estel, at least for the moment. It was great fun to join him on this little adventure outside and I'm sure a ride on Glorfindel's horse would raise anyone's spirits. Your Elrohir is very engaging and I very much liked the way you include the occasional nod to his mannish ancestry. A lovely chapter.

Author Reply: Thank you! It's nice to hear that Elrohir is engaging: I don't think anyone's used that adjective before! HIgh time Estel got out of the house, I think (there's only so much moping around the bedroom that a young boy can take!).

I so much see young Estel showing this degree of wisdom already, Canafinwe. Perfect! And at last he IS beginning to find the Valley jolly once more! He needs this after his long illness.

And I so love seeing who it is who will carry him today! This is far more manly for one of the child's dignity than being carried by, say, Elladan!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you liked it! He was, after all "Elven-wise". And it does seem like the sort of thing that Glorfindel would do: make arrangements for transport that were sensitive to the boy's dignity. Thanks as always for the lovely feedback!

Ah, a fun and exhilirating outing for young Estel!

I loved the way Glorfindel and Elrohir spouted lessons all during the combat. It reminded me of watching SCA fighter training sessions, and how the marshals would exhort the newbies!

Author Reply: Poor kid was overdue for some fun, I think. I'm glad you enjoyed Glorfindel and Elrohir and their lessons. I've never seen SCA fighter training, so it's interesting to know that they do this, too!
