Dear Family of Fiondil,

I don't know if you're ever going to read this, but I want you to know that he was a blessing in my life. He made Elvish something I could wrap my head around, his stories made me laugh, and he always, always replied to one of my reviews.

I'm so very, very, very sorry for your loss and I will keep you in my prayers.

How deliciously ironic!

“Now I know how Julie Andrews must have felt in ‘Victor/Victoria’.”
I was thinking the same thing, actually.

Looking forward to reading more.

Author Reply: Hi Lindelea. I liked that line and the whole premise is ironic. Odd that you started reading Elf Academy 3 without first reading this one, but whatever. Enjoy.

There's an elf yule school in Finland?! THAT IS AMAZING. My friend tells me that in Elf Academy 3, you have the elves take the Myers-Briggs, and that one of your OCs with whom I share a type (INTP) is frighteningly similar to me in academic interests as well as personality. Figured I'd give this a shot. I anticipate that if I fail my classes this semester, it will be your my own fault because I will be reading this story instead of studying. Because looking at the number of chapters, I'm going to be spending a LOT of time reading.

Author Reply: Hello Andrandiriel. Welcome to the Elf Academy series. Sarah said you and Valandur shared the same type. I hope you enjoy the series. People seem to have a lot of fun with it and I have a lot of fun writing it. And I refuse to take any blame for your inability to get all As in your courses because you're too busy reading my stories. LOL! Thanks awfully for taking the time to drop a review. I look forward to reading other reviews from you whenever you feel like leaving one. Happy reading!

indeed, what a great idea od Daeron, yet I´m not familiar with the custom of "elves" helping Stanta Claus? We await the christmas child bringing the gifts on christmas eve. Nonetheles a wonderful start to your story. I´m finding it a bit hard to imagine our elves in modern times with micro wave and CD, but amusing nonetheless. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. The idea that Santa is helped by elves is probably English in origin and then it spread to America and into the Scandinavian countries. And the idea of Elves in the modern world does get some getting used to, but it's all in fun and not to be taken too seriously. Thanks for reviewing.

It will be such a joy to read this again. I'm so glad you are continuing this story.

I don't remember if the Elves cut their hair or not. They would have to keep their ears covered somehow.

Author Reply: Hi Tari. In a later chapter Glorfindel's long hair is mentioned, so the ellyn obviousl kept their hair long as did the ellith.

Glad you are enjoying the re-read. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

replacing in Darkness bound with rereading a chapter of this on mondays and fridays,. I rarely review, but have been reading your stories for awhile

Author Reply: Hello calicodisko. I imagine a lot of people are re-reading this story in anticipation of the sequel which I will start posting shortly after the New Year. Enjoy your re-reading and if you feel drawn to leave a review or two, please do.

Well Atto, here I go again rereading this masterpiece! Awaiting the sequel, you know. Daeron had a great idea here...I have no job yet either, so where can I sign up?

Tye-melin,

Kaylee

Author Reply: Happy re-reading, Kaylee. *grin* Tye-melin.

Whoaa! How ironic is that... And you were right, you would spoil the entire story if you told me. LOL I kept expecting that it would be somewhere between Silm's and LotR's times until I eventually read this first chapter! Cool! I thought that we were not allowed to post crossovers here, though... :uncertain:

A little typo I came across: “You have a better idea, please enlighten us." - I think you should put "If" on the start of the sentence...

Something kind of nagged at me when you mentioned that the Elves were those never returning to Aman. Celeborn should have been there... I did not find him there. Why did you not put him there with his grandsons? They stayed when Elrond left, and no one knows when Celeborn departed to the Undying Lands too.

Come to think of it again, there was no Maglor here too...

Hmm. A story about the Elves' past in this modern world would have been rather entertaining too... Did you ever consider that after finishing Elf Academy? Perhaps a one-shot or two, a companion piece?

How had they been disguising themselves? I thought that Daeron must have been the leader, by the way, seeing that he was the oldest there in Middle-Earth, perhaps older than Glorfindel. Did you choose Glorfindel because of his experiences as a leader, a warrior?

A great piece to last the holiday, indeed. Thanks, Fiondil. :)

- Rey

Author Reply: This is not a crossover which is when you combine two separate fanfictions together, such as LOTR and Narnia. This is simply the Elves set in modern times and there have been other such stories written that are posted here.

Certainly one may begin that sentence with 'if' but we don't always speak like that and the 'if' is implied, so this is not a typo per se.

I cannot have everyone who might not have sailed in this story. I chose the Elves that I did for specific reasons and in this story Celeborn sailed, most likely when Sam did. Since there is no specific information either way I feel justified to have certain Elves remain behind while others took ship or just disappeared off the radar.

I have no intention of doing a sequel to this story even as one-shots. I simply do not have the time or the inclination as other projects are taking up my energy.

As for disgusing themselves, well, since long hair on men is not considered strange in this day and age.... And while Daeron is the oldest, he was but a minstrel and loremaster to Elu Thingol, while Glorfindel is a Noldorin noble and therefore has the higher rank.

Glad you like this, Rey. Thanks for letting me know.

Ah, yes! Whatever you did allowed the rest of the page, even the review button, to now be seen! Somehow the other format apparently planted a command after the italics that stopped the rest of the page from loading properly. This is much better!

And what a thing to be reduced to--playing at being what one actually is already! Now, to read on!

Author Reply: Glad you are able to read this story now, Larner. We will see how success these particular Elves are in playing themselves. *grin*

Makes sense to me. Who better than Elves to be elves!
Somehow I don't see Glorfindel as owning a mini-van, he strikes me more as the jeep type!
Keep them coming,
Lynda

Author Reply: Well, with five companions I think the mini-van works better. *LOL* Glad you were finally able to read this, Lynda.
