'Til Death Do Us Part  by Haleth 3 Review(s)
TariReviewed Chapter: 7 on 5/26/2010
Haleth is a lady of substance. Even though she knows Inglor will leave and take her heart with him, she is still willing to make the sails which will take him on his journey. Heartbreaking!

Author Reply: Thank-you for reviewing, Tari. Poor Haleth is really in a situation where she can't do anything else. IF she tells him no, Inglor would make his own sails. She would feel guilty while she watched him make the sails. They would fight and she would say something unfortunate and then have to apologize...again. It would really cast a cloud over their last bit of time together. Haleth is trying to avoid any bad feelings between them.

Thanks again for taking the time to review.

Oh yes - a very different chapter to the one I read earlier! I do wonder where Inglor means by 'home', whether Haleth is right in her interpretation, or whether he has somewhere else in mind for them to sail together.

Silver sails would have been most beautiful, and I am very struck with Cirdan making sure that any elves who arrived, over the years after he and his people left, might have everything they would need to build their own ship.

As for my username - I am very, very clumsy - I fall over holes in the ground that aren't there - and after a particular incident on television when we were courting, where there was a wombat with equally poor agility and dexterity, my husband's private name for me became wombat. The 'curious' came from a couple of places - but I do always want to know 'Who? What? Where and why?'...

Author Reply: Thanks for taking the time to reread, Curiouswombat. There are several versions of the story lurking on my hard drive and I picked the wrong one.

I'm glad you like the idea of the silver sails and Cirdan leaving supplies for any who came after, but I must admit that the idea was a convenience for me. Without it, it would have taken nearly a year for them to gather the supplies, cure the wood, locate the thread with which to weave the fabric for the sails, make the rope, collect and prepare the pitch for waterproofing. If I had a better imagination, I could come up with a plot for getting each raw material and another plot while everything was being prepared, but I'm just not that creative.

Thank-you for explaining your username. I can completely relate to being clumsy. I didn't realize wombats were...er...somewhat less than perfectly co-ordinated. Curiousity is a good personailty trait. It keeps the rest of us from getting too complacent.

Thank-you for reviewing.

I do wish Haleth would stop being so bloody noble and just tell Inglor how she's feeling about his ship building. More than likely it's not what she thinks it is. And it wouldn't hurt for Inglor to get a clue and stop being so mysterious all the time, though I suspect that he doesn't see it that way himself, silly ellon. They both need lessons in mastering communication skills. *grin*

Author Reply: Thank-you, Fiondil. I don't know if I'd call Haleth's behavior completely noble. She's terrified of embarrassing herself.

Inglor is of the opinion that everything in his behavior is completely obvious. He's not hiding anything; at least not anything that another Elf could see.

These two show text book bad communication. They both speak two and a bit languages in common, yet neither really had any idea what the other really means.

Thanks again.
