'Til Death Do Us Part  by Haleth 6 Review(s)

What a delimma Haleth is in. She is now living among the Firstborn, doesn't know the language and feels that her appearance is lacking. Those are obstacles that can be overcome as well as learning how to knit. She needs to take a breath and proceed forward slowly. I'm sure everthing will work out for the best and still have hopes for her and Inglor.

Oh dear, she's not happy - as if she ever would be. I weave myself, but S's always been too active I'd have thought.

And where's Inglor gone? Don't say he's abandoned her again?

Author Reply: Haleth seems to have lost the capacity for happiness. You're right. She'd probably be happier doing something more active. You weave? It's one of those things that I've always wanted to learn to do.

Thank-you for reviewing.

I'm so glad to catch up on this wonderful story. Haleth's struggles with coming to terms with her new existence are very realistic, and it's so good to see her character still holding true to the woman we met when you first began to write of her.

I have to say that I'm looking forward to the day when she and Inglor finally do admit their true feelings for each other--and I don't mean Haleth shouting at him, "It's all your fault!" *grin* But in the meantime, it's good to see how she adjusts to her new reality as an immortal.

I did like the scene in the weaving room, and thought that the discussion of appropriate yarn color was hilarious--and yet sad. Yes, she has been given the "gift" of immortality, but she will never be an elf. I can see how difficult it would be to find emotional comfort in a society where one is not like everyone else. It's one of the reasons that I think that Elwing prefers to live separate from the other elves in her tower. At least Elwing has Earendil, but Haleth doesn't--yet--have Inglor. (Although I think that even though she can't see it, he's smitten. :) )

It's late and my thoughts are rather disjointed, but I had to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing this tale had bee updated. Keep up the excellent work, and I'll be looking forward to what happens next. Well done!

Author Reply: Thank-you, Rhyselle. I'm happy to hear that Haleth's basic character hasn't changed.

...'I'm looking forward to the day when she and Inglor finally do admit their true feelings for each other'...

I hope you're patient!

The usual reaction of characters being made immortal is joy. I'm a curmudgeon. I'm not so sure it would be easy to suddenly go from expecting to eventually die to hanging around until the end of time and watching everything you've ever known and loved decaying into dust. It would be crushing. Heck, I still navigate around my home town by landmarks that haven't been there for 20 years. In my mind, they're still there and I feel a twinge of sadness when I'm reminded that they're gone.

I've never thought about why Elwing would hold herself apart from the Elves. Now that you mention it, there's probably a very good story in there. (Off you go, bunny. Find another home.)

Thank-you for your thoughtful review.

Loved the reference to Blundering Through Beleriand. :) Delightful as always.

Author Reply: Oh, yes. The story with the whip-lash inducing point of view switches. Every once in a while I think I should make it presentable.

Thanks for reviewing.

Poor Haleth. Anairė is trying ard to make her feel welcome but Haleth isn't making it easy, nor do I blame her. Her last words pretty much sums it up, doesn't it? Looking forward to seeing what happens next. Oh, and I love the chapter title -- very ironic. *grin*

Author Reply: Anairė is likely at a loss for what to do with her formerly mortal descendant. Haleth doesn't speak her language very well and comes from a very different culture. She isn't given to confiding in people, either. It would be a very uncomfortable situation for both of them.

The chapter title suggested itself, which was highly unusual.

Poor Inglor its his fault once again.Just as well he has broad shoulders.I hope Haleth finds something more to her liking than weaving. Can't wait find out what Inglor is doing. Mabye next chapter? I am loving this story.Galathil

Author Reply: Poor Inglor. He means well.

Haleth will have to find something that interests her. It's not good to have nothing to do and all of eternity to do it.

Thank-you for reviewing, Galathil.
