'Til Death Do Us Part  by Haleth 11 Review(s)
FreyalynReviewed Chapter: 35 on 8/27/2013
Oh dear, has this died a death and gone into abeyance? Poor Haleth...

Author Reply: Not quite. I'd written myself into a very tight corner and couldn't figure a way out for a long, long time.

Not that Haleth's lot in life has gotten any easier.

come on, we need an update now. Poor Haleth is utterly lost here, and needs some sort of a hand out from the hole she's fallen into.

Author Reply: Hello Freyalyn.

Well, it's not a hole so much as a tree. The writers block has finally lifted and the story has been updated. At last.

I'm sorry for leaving it for so long.

Greetings, Haleth! I LOVE this story! It's not often that I read a whole book in one sitting, but I simply couldn't put this one down! I'm totally captivated by the main characters, Haleth and Inglor. I was up into the wee hours reading and didn't realize the story wasn't finished yet. Now I'm hanging in a state of anticipation - where is Inglor and is he OK? Has Haleth finally learned her lesson? I can't wait to read the coming chapters!! There's so much more I'd like to say but I don't want to write my own novel as a review! Any chance we could talk 'off-line' by email? Thank you for sharing this story with me!

Author Reply: Hello Endorearwen.

Thank-you for your review. Where is Inglor? Haleth would really like to know. As far as Haleth learning any lessons...it takes multiple mistakes, but occasionally the lessons do sink in. Until she gets angry, then she forgets.

Yes, I do have a deviantart account, though I do not use it. Same name. :)

Looking forward to the next chapter.

I love your story!
I've started to read it this morning and couldn't stop untill there weren't any chapters left.
I like the relationship between Haleth and Inglor but come'n why Haleth had to be so cruel to him in the last chapter and why Inglor can't tell her what he really feels? That's harsh. ;D
On the other hand I like involving Ecthelion in this whole thing and you should be kind to him cos he's one of my favourite characters.
I was wondering about the connection between Haleth(Silmariën) and the other Haleth(from Tolkien works). Are they the same persons? Cos there was that scene in the library of Elrond and during dinner and I quite didn't comprehend it.
I'm eager to read the next chapter.
Greetings from your faithful fan from Slovakia
:)

Author Reply: Thank-you, Andreth.

I'll be good to Ecthelion.

I had to go back and read the bit in Elrond's library. The librarian finds the book open. He assumes Haleth was reading it, but he doesn't know for certain. The stories of the Exiles may not be that common in Aman. If someone wanted to look up what had happened in Middle-earth in the First Age, Elrond's library would likely be the best place to go. (That or Cirdan, who would remember a lot of it.)

Someone was looking in the book. We don't really know who.

I hope the story continues to entertain you.

Thank-you for the review.

Thank you for another great chapter. The dance of butterflies was lovely. A figure of flame? Caranthir? Or perhaps Maedhros... More and more mysteries. Looking forward to how this resolves.

Author Reply: Thank-you, twoflower.

A person shaped from flames. When I'm really discouraged I think about having him appear and burn down everything by accident. The end.

I hadn't thought of him being Maedhros. Hmmm.

Thanks again.

Poor Haleth - I'm beginning to think she needs to seek out some serious therapy. At least she's in the right place, if she can ever pull her head far enough out for look beyond herself. I really do feel for the situation she is now in, through no (real) fault of her own, but continuing to look inwards will really not achieve anything.

I do look forward to more soon

Author Reply: Hello Freyalyn

You're got it exactly right. Haleth needs to stop feeling sorry for herself. Even she is beginning to realize this. The problem that's making everything worse is that she lacks a purpose. She needs something worthwhile to do. She's like a high-powered executive who has been forced into early, unwanted retirement.

I'll do my best to get the next installment ready relatively soon.

Thank-you for the review.

Now I would've liked to have heard the story about the brothel and the mistaken identity. I'm sure it would prove very amusing. LOL! The butterfly dance must've been lovely to witness, but that last part with the figure of flame stepping out of the fire was a bit unnerving. Hope we find out what that's all about soon. Great chapter, Haleth.

Author Reply: Hello Fiondil. If I ever write about the brother and the case of mistaken identity...it'll be an original story.

The butterfly dance was inspired by an arrangement of a Celtic tune called The Butterfly (big surprise) played by a group of Russian musicians calling themselves Ann'Sannat along with a harpist named Alizbar. I highly recommend both of them.

Thank-you for the review.

So now Haleth finds herself to be in a triangle type situation. She still loves Inglor, and then Ecthelion enters the picture, throwing her into a state of confusion. Where does her heart truly lie? Can anything ever come of her love?

If she is in the Undyland Lands, why is she not youthful once more? Her statement about her wrinkles makes me think she is still old.

Author Reply: Ecthelion would throw almost any woman into a state of confusion.

I don't know that being in the Undying Lands would reverse the aging process. The concoction Inglor gave her would have stopped her from getting any older (or else it would be beyond cruel to give it to anyone). Tolkien never mentioned that limpe would restore youth. I guess it's a matter of opinion.

Thanks for the review.

Unlike the previous reviewer I'm not sure that Ecthelion is flirting - I think, perhaps, he is doing his best to be friendly and even helpful.

But the more malevolent presence, whether it be internal or external, is more worrying - especially for poor Haleth!

Author Reply: I don't think Ecthelion is flirting; at least not overtly or on purpose. He is being friendly and he's definitely more animated that many of the other elves. It's easy to see why Haleth finds him attractive.

Mr. Malevolent is giving me a huge head-ache. I worry I may have bitten off more than I can chew with him.
